This is one of the best music venues in the Bay Area. The acoustics are fantastic, seating is comfortable and it's easy to see the performers and be fully engaged in the show. The Freight attracts some of the best performers from around the country and offers a variety of music to make any heart sing.

Freight and Salvage feels like a gathering of friends even if you don't know ANYONE! The calendar of events, both music and community, is stellar. I saw Booker T there. It was such a delightful evening. I want to be one of the people that goes there OFTEN! It's an important community resource and has been in Berkeley for ages. Staying power!

We came to a live music show here and found an excellent intimate theater. Very good sight lines from all perspectives, good sound system, no one seems far from the stage. Comfortable seats. Pleasant lobby

We just saw harmonica legend Charlie Musselwhite and he was great! The venue is medium sized with good seats and great acustics. We took a look at the calendar for January and could go back 3 times, easily. Beer, wine, sandwiches and snacks. For New Year's they are having salsa and creating a dance floor. And, yes!, the seats are surprisingly comfortable! Pricing $40/per person with $14. covering a wine and a beer.

The Freight has been THE place folk, blues, jazz, world music, promoting connections thru music, and kids/youth music performers want to play for decades. The current venue, in the heart of the Berkeley arts district, hosts concerts, sing-alongs, theater, etc. as well as offers a wide variety of music lessons taught by area greats. Get on the mailing list! Go to an event! Donate!
My orchestra (Awesome Orchestra Collective) played the Freight for our 2nd straight year - a memorable and uplifting evening, where we premiered a new movement of a requiem for the Ghost Fire victims.

We went to see a sold out Tuck and Patti show tonight. Awesome show, great choices of drinks, good chocolate chip cookies and now serving food for dinner. Get there early if you really want to see someone up close. Doors open at 7 pm but the line is long at that time. Clean bathrooms and comfy seats. Get their monthly calendar so you can see your favorite performers.

This is an absolutely wonderful venue for seeing live music and entertainment. Great acoustics and a really lovely setting. The Freight has a nice warm, inviting atmosphere and it's an intimate venue for seeing music and movies. We're members and plan to continue to be!

Every year for the past 5 years, we've attended the Bay Area Book Festival in downtown Berkeley, California. We seen many of the various author speaking events held at the Freight & Salvage that were part of the Bay Area Book Festival.

Was back at the Freight, last night for Bill Frissell. Fantastic acoustics. Friendly staff.

I've gone to shows at the Freight for many years and love the place. Check out who's playing when you're in the area (or before you get here to help with your trip planning.) BART (rapid transit) is within a block so coming over from San Francisco is easy. The Freight is unique venue, great site lines, offers wine and beer, and has the most wonderful staff and volunteer help. It's a Berkeley institution worth seeing. Their calendar is online so you can get an idea of the music before you commit to tickets.Really great for teens too if you;re traveling as a family.
