Another 3 wonderful days of Andalucian birding with Niki and Simon! This second trip surpassed our first one!

This was my third day trip with Simon and Niki.
It was an excellent day out. What could have been better, hundreds of birds on migration and all those lovely bald ibis along with picking up so much more information and help with identification. Not forgetting the picnic lunch with local cheeses.
Looking forward to my next trip.

I decided to join Inglorious Bustards as a single traveller on their Bird Migrations and Cetaceans trip in the Strait of Gibraltar, having wanted to travel to the Strait for this for several years. Right from the start, Simon and Niki were extremely welcoming and provided all information I would need to make my way to join the trip. We also had the pleasure of Stuart as our second guide along with Simon throughout the trip.
The holiday was beyond anything I expected; the landscape, of course the wildlife, and the atmosphere within the whole group was absolutely wonderful. The days were well-paced, and everybody was catered for regardless of their "previous birding experience". I learned a lot from both Simon, Stuart, and other people travelling as part of the holiday. And most importantly we always had a lot of fun!
What really stands out to me about Simon and Niki's trips is the dedication, care and thought they put into every aspect of what they deliver. Our bird and cetacean watching was carried out in the most respectful and non-intrusive way, something which is not always easy to balance. The choice of accommodation was perfect, and the team who looked after us there could not be faulted. Every effort was taken to source food which had the lowest environmental impact possible, being sourced and grown locally and sustainably; both for our delicious picnic lunches and morning and evening meals out our accommodation. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and having additional dietary requirements I never felt like I was a hassle or missing out on anything.
The only downside about this trip was that it came to and end! If you want a genuine, ethical, respectful wildlife experience then I can absolutely recommend booking a trip with Inglorious Bustards...you will not be disappointed!

As relative beginners to birdwatching, this was our first full-week birding experience. It was a brilliant exhibition of the raptors migrating across the Straits of Gibraltar (buzzards, vultures, storks, eagles) - not least the amazing numbers recorded (>1000 honey buzzards one day). We also thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to see many other birds closer up in the woodlands and wetlands. In addition, the boat trip was a wonderful experience with fin and pilot whales and three types of dolphin.
Overall the organisation of the trips, meals and accommodation by Niki was excellent. Although we did not need the airport or train transfers, these were really well organised for those that did. The guiding by Simon, ably assisted by Stuart, was eye-opening, both instructive and very enjoyable. It was also a brilliant group of fellow birders: as relative beginners we were never made to feel ignorant despite so much knowledge on show.
Finally, it was a wonderful opportunity to spend most of our time in the open air, including the lovely accommodation at the eco-lodge Huerta Grande and being able to sleep in the woods with the windows open but protected from mosquitoes. Katrin and her team made us so comfortable.
We will look forward to future birding trips with great anticipation.

What a day, one I'll never forget. Simon was an excellent guide, in fact it felt more like birding with an old friend. His local knowledge and connections were invaluable. I was treated to so many wonderful sightings from Rufous-tailed Scrub Robins and Woodchat Strikes to waders galore and migrant terns.
I couldn't recommend Simon and Inglorious Bustards more highly and would definitely book again if I'm ever back in the area or down at the Straits. 5*!!

The Swift Weekender Tour was absolutely amazing. I will start off by saying that Niki and Simon are undoubtedly some of the kindest people that I have met. They were extremely enjoyable to be around, very knowledgeable and provided great vibes throughout. We saw quite a few rarities, including a juvenile Lanner Falcon, 2 Ruppell's Vultures, Northern Bald Ibis and more throughout the days in the tour as well as connecting with all 5 swift species throughout the tour with relative ease aside from the white rumped swift which was sadly quite distant. However, this was quickly forgotten about with the excellent picnics that Simon and Niki made, which always included a healthy platter of locally sourced fruits, veg, cheese and breads, which were simply delicious. The restaurant where we had dinner was very welcoming and the staff were excellent and courteous. The accommodation was quite basic but very cosy and the beds were very comfortable. In the mornings, the breakfasts included some lovely toast and croissants as well as some delectable ham and some fruits. All in all it was an absolutely fantastic time and I am keen to book another tour with Simon and Niki next year as it was simply amazing.

Flawless few days of birding, escaping the UK winter and enjoying 132 species of bird!
Niki and Simon were expert hosts with logistics executed smoothly and a diverse range of habitats visited, resulting in our wish list of Iberian species including; Northern Bald Ibis, Little Swift and Spanish Imperial Eagle to name a few. We also had Blue-winged Teal and Bonaparte's Gull from across the Atlantic as a bonus!
Cannot recommend Inglorious Bustards highly enough and look forward to my next trip with them already.

Niki and Simon are experienced birders, who know where to find the birds that you would like to see. Particularly if you want to see the migrations to and from Africa. They take good care of their customers, optionally arranging a stay in a very nice hotel, where the food was high quality..

Simon an Nicky were excellent hosts and our week birdwatching with them was totally enjoyable 1 would recommend Inglorious Bastards for anyone wishing to to a birdwatching trip
