I love coming here every weekend to volunteer and help out in work/rundays it such a great hobby makes me feel like a kid.!

The Castledare Miniature Railways depart from a station in Wilson, near the Kent St Weir. The railways run on a 7.25 gauge; the railways have been running here since 1963. Apart from providing pleasure to those who ride the railway, the Castledare Miniature Railways have raised many thousands of dollars for charity. The Castledare Miniature Railways have a long-standing co-operative relationship with the Christian Brothers.

The Castedare Miniature Railways is a miniature, ride-on railway, established in the early 1960s. It mainly caters for younger children, though parents (and grandparents) are welcome. It was formerly associated with the Castledare Boys Home, run by the Christian Brothers. It's in Wilson, near the well-known Kent St Weir. The railway runs on a regular schedule, which unfortunately has been disrupted by the corona virus precautions. Our kids love the railway, fortunately we didn't live far away.

Do get the discount pass becuase once you're there, the kids will want to go around again and again! Also - check to see which station they're running from - if its the Wilson station, you can also have a nice morning tea or lunch at the Canning River Cafe and go for a walk, but the Niana station doesn't have a cafe.

I went with my son & his family for the steamiest day last Sunday. It was a great day out. My 21 month old grandson loved seeing & riding on the trains. There is a cafe & picnic areas so a cheap & fun day out for young & old. The day we went they also had miniature steam tractors in the car park.
Free to get in, just pay if you want a ride on the trains.

We used to take our kids when little and now taking our Grandson. Canning Weir Park, where train leaves from has a nice playground, cafe and an information centre. The train ride is worth the affordable fee and the tracks go on and on thru the beautiful bush and waterlands teaming with bird life.

We took 2 of our little grandsons to Castledare Minature Railway in Wilson last holidays. I have to say that I think we enjoyed it as much as the kids did! It was about an hour before closing time however we still managed to get in two rides, one on the cutest little steam train before they finished for the day.
The 5klm track winds through pretty paper bark trees and past the lake, doing a circuit before coming back to the station. It was interesting to see the men stocking up the coal and water into the little steam train and to see the water truck they use incase of fires!
One thing though, the cafe was super busy and there was an hour wait for food so we decided not to worry about lunch there and headed elsewhere.
Definitely wear pants ladies as you straddle the seat!

So sad we didn’t get to see any thing. The view is nice though and can take a walk along the tracks or sit on the bench.

I recently took a group of 16 teenagers for a day out. We headed off for a ride on the Castledare miniature train. What an amazing experience! We all got on to the larger train on a glorious winter’s day in Perth. The ride took about 20 minutes and was fun, relaxing and soul refreshing. We finished off with a bbq lunch and some social time. Well worth considering for all ages.
