Have been visiting Dry Creek and Alexander Valleys for wine tasting the past 15 yrs or so. But always go to the familiar and favorites. Just attended the Winter Wineland event and chanced upon this winery as one of the participating wineries. Had other stops planned but stayed here, drank delicious wines and spent time with Jim the owner/winemaker and his family and friends until the event closed. We shared his wine knowledge and our common backgrounds in health care (he is an ICU nurse!). Joined the club. This was a place where we immediately felt so comfortable. But you don’t join a wine club really for anything but the wine. And this wine stands up to anything else you will taste. Looking forward to a long relationship with this winery!

We were so fortunate to meet Jim, the winemaker. He is a walking encyclopedia of all things wine related. Not only did we learn about J. Rickards wines, but also learned about the process of taking the grapes to the bottle. In addition, Jim was able to tell us all about the history of the area. We easily talked to him for over an hour. The wine was delicious and the prices were reasonable. Our visit to J. Rickards was one we will NEVER forget! Loved the experience!

Amazing staff. Beautiful scenery. Outstanding wines. Christine and the entire staff at J Rickards made us feel so welcome on our first day in the area we decided to come back the next day. That says a lot. We had 2 and a half days. We decided to spend quite a bit of it at J Rickards. They really went above and beyond. Plus their Wine is so good! Five stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We really enjoyed the hospitality and the wine tasting Sumter J Rickards. We arrive early so we could gobble our lunch in our rental car but when spotted by our host Ozzy, we were invited to come in and use their picnic tables overlooking their vineyard! We were even able to add on two glasses of their yummy Rose to enjoy with our sandwiches!
The winery was very busy and we loved being able to savor our tastes with the beautiful view. We enjoyed chatting with Ozzy about the different wines and winemaking. The wines were delicious and we enjoyed hearing about the process in which they are made. Even brought home a few to enjoy!

We had separate outdoor seating due to COVID-19. This was the only winery to serve us flights of wine. Excellent wines and a knowledgeable server. The view was tremendous, with the only downside being highway noisy.

Ozzie made this stop unforgettable! He took us out to the vines and explained so much about the winery while we tasted amazing wine and the grapes off the vine. Then he took us to the barrel room and educated us some more while tasting another wine. We left with many bottles of great wine and wonderful memories!

J. Rickards Winery was awesome! The host Ozzy did an amazing job showing us the barrel rooms, walking us through the fields, and being super knowledgable unlike any of the other 3 hosts we had on our Platypus Wine Tour. None of them made us feel special and important like that which is what I was expecting in Sonoma like Ozzy did! Ozzy was the best sommelier wine host I have ever had! He was impressive! The wine was exceptional!!

J Rikards Winery was on our small group wine tour. Ozzy greeted us and was very helpful and informative to this non-wine expert during the tasting. Then, much to my surprise, Jim Rickards appeared and told us his story. He took us out to the production equipment and we did some barrel tasting and saw the grape crusher in action. We went on another small group tour the next day and this was a stop on their tour as well. We tasted the wine again and Jim came out once more. Thinking that we would be seeing the production equipment again...no! He took our group out into the vineyard and we tasted grapes off of the vine and showed us the grafting process. What a treat! Also his wine dog was adorable! It was a great experience for a vineyard novice like me.

A small place locally run by Jim Rickards. Their entire selection of wines was wonderful. We bought a few bottles and also joined their wine club.

We came here as part of a 4 stop tour. We didn’t know anything about the winery when we arrived, but left as wine club members (our first and only membership). We loved the wine and the people, very laid back, not pretentious at all but also passionate about wine and their location is just beautiful.
