A wonderful preservation of an ancestral family farm of Patterson including: corn granary, animal free roaming and sheds, tractor barn, blacksmith shed and laundry shed. Also a white family house and gazebo with train station nearby. Beautiful blue peacocks on site among domesticated sheep and goats and rabbits with wild squirrels.

This is a working farm in the Fremont area. There is a small fee to enter on most days with a higher fee for days when the train runs, and also for special events. There is an historic Patterson House that has weekend tours for a fee.
We’ve spent years at Ardenwood with our youngest son, his friends and fellow homeschoolers. They offer many educational classes along with the spring arrival of the farm animals and toddler story time. My friend who returned to Germany asked if we could go here once again for the day because they missed it so much. I highly recommend this attraction, especially if you have children.

Nice outdoor venue, warm during the afternoon in July but as evening came it got a bit chilly and mosquitos started to attack.

My niece and nephew go to the summer camps here and love it so much they always want to have their birthdays here. It is very affordable with docents that are incredibly educated, friendly and helpful. They have taught us how to shear sheep, brew beer (without the kids) and milk a cow! If you have time and kids and want to get hands on with some animals, you cannot miss ardenwood. They also have a train that is open during the summer and is a huge hit with kids and kids-at-heart alike.

Good place to visit with family. It is is a working farm producing grain and vegetables. You will find many farm animals like sheep, goats, pigs, peacocks etc. Enjoyed the train ride in the farm. There is a snacks shop in the location. Good number of great events takes place here. There is a mansion in the farm, know as Patterson House. Ardenwood Historic Farm is managed by the East Bay Regional Park District. Parking space available.

The area is clean, nice, welcoming. There were kids activities. There is lots of shade and grounds to walk around.

Free entry and parking (Except on special events), Train Ride is less than 2 mins , i think just a one time thing..You can pet see quiet a few farm animals Pigs, Goats, Hens, rabbits,If you really want to see peacocks up close roaming around this is the place, Get some pics for sure... small little place get in and out less than 2-3 hours.

Good for maybe children 5 and up. My 3 yo was bored and running all over. It may be that he doesn't have the attention span to look at any animal for any period of time. I wouldn't come back until he is older. On top of that, I had to pay a toll to get there. Not worth it!
