This park was not a great park. Yes it was huge. Yes it seems to have a few different things to do but between the ridiculous amount of geese and the unbelievable amount of California ground squirrels we had to leave. It is a rodent infestation and someone should have taken care of it before now. We would have disc golfed or flown our drone or watched for birds but we watched a woman shoo a squirrel and it come back to her picnic table over and over, we still got out and tried…we shooed a squirrel and it didn’t budge. They started swarming us after about 15 minutes and we left. Would NOT recommend.

Stopped between our NP visits for bathrooms, picnic lunch and a game of disc golf. Pay by phone ($5) was easy snd convenient with clear directions. Disc golf course was great! Close to Trader Joe's and gas station and Walgreens for r

Visiting the area, I road my road bike around to check this place out. Lots of hiking trails; some dirt…you can go for miles! Small ponds & lakes too. There are grills and covered picnic areas to avoid the sun when it’s too sunny. I saw a BMX area and small amphitheater. There were lots of people kicking a soccer ball around, jogging, throwing a frisbee, hiking, fishing, etc.
Needless to say, this is a pretty nice park. But I suspect on really nice days, getting the picnic location you want and the parking, might be a problem if you don’t show extremely early. I saw some gates that were up at some unmanned toll booths…so I don’t know if there’s a fee to get in or not during their peak season.

Wonderful place to visit (so relaxing) I will go back on my next visit to Fresno California/don’t forget to pass by The tea house is so relaxing that you don’t want to leave the place.

So much potential. The river is pretty and there are potentially nice picnic areas near the water. But the place is overrun with Geese - impossible to enjoy a nice picnic by the lake. We were so disappointed. We did not visit the Japanese gardens - those might be nice.

Park is well maintained and can handle a lot of people without feeling crowded. There is plenty of room for a toddler to run around and they can be kept busy feeding the wildlife. Good place to ahve a picnic

We haven't been here for over 30+years. But came back to visit my mom. We had some downtime and wanted to check it out. This was well worth the $5.00 entrance fee. The colors of the trees are still in Fall colors. Absolutely beautiful to see. The Shinzin Gardens are just as beautiful. This is a must see.

Pretty place for a stroll after a plane journey. Had to pay $5/ each in addition to the park entrance fee. Beautiful landscaping but looked like they were short of gardening help. Dead goose floating by the lake shore and lots of dead leaves and branches that you wouldn’t see in a true Japanese garden.

I enjoyed wandering around the park taking photos of the trees and wildlife. There are many ramadas and restroom areas located throughout the park. Also, there is a bike (BMX) area. I did not see a food or cafe area. The Japanese Gardens are located inside the park but you have to pay extra to get in.

The Japanese Garden is fairly romantic but only open limited hours. There is is a dog park. If you both own dogs might be a good ice breaker. If she likes to hike or bike it has trails.
