About ten years ago, I wrote a scathing review of Gilroy Gardens after I visited the park with my wife, daughter, and her two young children. I was shocked that they would be "out of" things like milk, in a park specifically aimed at youngsters. Last night we went again for North Pole Night, with the now-older grandchildren and two more that were born since that earlier visit. Nothing has changed. My daughter and I each ordered coffee. After taking our order and money, when our number was called they told us they didn't have any more 16oz cups. After questioning, they said they had 12oz cups, and we said okay, after having paid the outrageous price for it. We went over to the stand - no cream. We asked, they were out of cream (four hours before closing!). The staff member offered to add milk from their espresso machine. We said fine, and she did. I then walked away with my coffee, took a sip - it was lukewarm at best. After all that and with the family with me, I just took it and went to our table. But they can't even be bothered to keep the coffee hot! Shameful. Oh, and two rides broke down while we were there, one of which broke down a second time after being restarted. It's definitely a pleasant place for the children, but it's a lot of money for an organization that obviously has no interest in customer service.

At this time of year the Halloween theme of the park is very very noticeable. With characters running around and treat trails, there was always something to do at the park. Yet the food, the food was the star of the show. The amounts of garlic themed foods was expansive, and they even tasted great! Even the garlic and chocolate ice cream was great, proving my parents wrong. I would have to say that the only downside to this park is the lack of good lighting. Although the Halloween lighting is nice for setting I tripped many times because of the walkway not being lit up to see.

The security guard confiscated our family's water when we entered the park -- on a day when it was over 90 degrees and we were all overheated and parched. The water on sale at the park was exorbitantly expensive, which felt outright wrong. They should be handing out water on day when people could get heatstroke -- not taking it away.
Even aside from this, the experience of the park was pretty awful. There were lines at every attraction, and the employees were at best indifferent, at worst rude. It was really frustrating to have this be our experience after dropping over $200 for our visit.
Save your money for more meaningful and positive experiences, and skip this place.

Just visited this Sunday on Mother's day and the park wasn't busy. 3 year old daughter was excited and loved the flower installations.
The trees provided a lot of shade and it's nice, unique in that sense although there were mosquitos around and we all got bitten a few times.
most of the rides were operating. unfortunately the train and sky tram weren't and those are rides where we could all sit together and were looking most forward to. It was 75-80 degrees so it seems most of the kids were at the water area. I felt like it was already crowded so I can't imagine how that area would be during the summer.
Food is very overpriced. All the meals looked like they were priced about $18 which is even more expensive than Disneyland! The chicken sandwich and chicken and waffles were filling enough (I think it's two pieces of chicken tenders in between a bun and two waffles).
I purchased the gold season pass for CA Great America ($105 per adult) which also gave free pre-K passes so $210 for my family of 3 and access to both parks but I have to pay the $25 parking fee. Gilroy Garden membership is $90 per person so would've been $270. I'll probably go back a couple of more times (the winter event seems cool) so will probably end up paying about the same amount but I'll get to visit CA Great America as well.
Memberships seem a bit pricey. Santa Cruz beach boardwalk is $5 per kiddie ride so that destination will be a cheaper day trip than visitng a theme park.

Complaint- I spent $370 for 2 GenAdmiss.,1 child, 2 seniors. Roller coaster, closed, motorized cars closed, water park closed, butterfly house open, no butterflles door open, etc. I drove an hour to your location. No signs or word from entry booth that many rides were closed. If I had known I would not have entered the park. Also $25 to park. I would like a refund.

Great place for young kids.They have an amazing water park. lots of rides and paddle boats. Lots of shade .We had a great time with our grand son.

Family fun! Beautiful gardens. We brought my 4 year old grandson and 11 year old niece. They had a blast! Only $30 on Thursday July 6. We camped at an RV park in Gilroy and drove. Food was pricey but worked out fine. We had a great time, will def come back. We bought season passes this month and will be doing for the Halloween party, can’t wait!

Very pretty amusement park. A bit pricy for what you get. We didn’t get a fast pass cause it would have been an additional $100 for us. My kids went in 5 rides. The food is over priced. Don’t eat the fried pickles..they seemed like they were cooked the day before then heated up again. The kids had fun, not sure if we will go again.

Do NOT go here on a long weekend. Park kicks everybody's a$$ out at sharp 6pm (but allows you to buy tickets, buy FastPass etc till 5:59pm ! Rip off). Bought tickets worth $225 for family of 4. Reached park at 2pm. Took 45mins to find parking. Entered part at around 2:50pm. First stop had 1.5hr of wait time. Decided to upgrade the pass for 2 at $50 total at around 4:45pm (Why would you not warn that everybody is going to get kicked out in under an hr!). Went to water park since that was the only thing with no lines. Got yelled at by teenage staff at 5:58pm to vacate the premises ASAP. What the he-ll !! I Total $$ rip off. This place is a joke.

Interesting concept
Pros:
Clean

One of my kids saw this on TikTok and decided we needed to stop in when we were in Gilroy last month. We paid $70 per person, which I thought wasn’t worth it. I’d say this is geared for elementary aged children.

Gilroy Gardens has a 'premium' membership pass that offers some additional perks like free parking and discounts on dining. There's other benefits, but I'm not really interested in those.
I'm a bit confused though: if I have a family of four, does EVERYONE have to have a premium pass to get free parking or food discount? It doesn't make a lot of sense in that case because we don't all eat (in fact, we rarely dine there at all aside from snack carts, which aren't included). It would also be enough more expensive then to not be worth free parking. Does anyone know how it works? Can I just buy one premium pass and get free parking?

The Gilroy Gardens website shows we can pre-buy food vouchers, supposedly cheaper than buying while at the park. Is this really a big savings?

Do they have any city bus stops near the park entrance or are there other methods to getting here but avoiding the extra charge in that excessive parking fee $20?

If you plan to go more than once, getting their yearly parking pass can make it worth it. It is down a country road and far from the road without sidewalks. Could get Uber it Lyft but that cost may be more than a parking pass.

I didn't see any accommodations for campers at Gilroy Gardens. There is at least one amphitheater in the park where they could play a movie, but I don't know where they'd normally do that.

Food required for children and very small quantities are allowed. You can carry own fodd but have to keep and consume outside th epark. There is picnic area ,including benches , outside.

The Gilroy Hilton Gatden Inn is very nice and right off the 101 freeway at Monterey Street. You have to drive across town as a Gilroy Gardens is on the west side of Gilroy. There are no hotels on the west side. This is about a 15 minute drive.
If you also want to go to the outlets, the Best Western Plus Forest Park Inn is also nice but in a busier part of town. It’s just west of the 101 Fwy and the outlets are just east as you go under the 101. Also about 15 minutes away from the Gardens.

Kristina said it all. There are a few shows aimed at the young crowd. Aside from that and the circus trees and lovely plants, there isn’t much for adults. It’s a super place for grandchildren.

There are still many rides for 8/9 year olds to enjoy. My grandchildren were only 4 and 5 and loved that they could ride so many things. At 8/9 you might be topping out the age range but I think there is still a lot to do. It’s still shady and pleasant, with reasonable wait times.

Adults can’t go on the really kiddie rides. But most rides adults and children ride together. Really a family theme park. I think most rides would be fine for heavy folks. Some rides might have a weight limit. Email or call them.

Yes bring towels unless your prepared to purchase. Yes, adults and children can get wet near water gun and slide play area. Currently the other location that has splash area is closed for Illumination.
