This must have been quite a strip mall in its time. The building is still the same, made of wood and red bricks.
There is a restaurant, but they closed it forever. There was a sign for anyone who wanted to start a restaurant in this strip mall. a
However, the Chocolate shop, my favorite, was quite busy.
All the rest were closed. I thought they were closing early. However, I was told that many of the shops had moved.

We enjoyed being just a bit out of the way in the town of Glen Ellen because it was very quiet and relaxing. The bar and restaurant within a brief walk was convenient. The hotel is older and the rooms are large and clean. It is located close to a fun, small grocery store. A short drive to Jack London State Park is worth the visit. Go when the docents are there for a guided tour. Benziger winery is just up the hill about 1/2 mike and their tour and tasting was great. For us, location was the best thing about Jack London Village. Pleasant memories,

Stopped at Jack London Village and took a walk around the shopping area. There are a few shops and restaurants. Hopscotch is a lovely artisan shop and there is also a chocolate shop. There are some interesting sculptures around the shopping area. A creek runs along the backside of the mall and we watched some otters in the creek. Nice place to relax and take a break.

There's really nothing much interesting worth going to. Hardly anybody around. Unless there is a specific store or restaurant you really plan to go to, don't bother visiting. Just spend your time elsewhere.

I never knew who Jack London was but the park and village are very informative, Free of charge and quite peaceful. This is a great location near the Benziger Family Winery

We have enjoyed going to the Olive and the Vine for several years. It just closed in February but there is a Himalayan restaurant and an Italian restaurant there. The home made chocolates are SO good. There is a little gift shop that just opened and a super sculpture art shop. There are many other sculptures on the grounds. Wine tasting is across the street. There are historic buildings and plaques there to explain the site. A mill wheel still turns and is attached to the Italian restaurant. Stop and enjoy the village!

Been coming here for years. It is getting a complete makeover and looks great. There are several good restaurants and Aventine in the old Grist Mill is excellent. Good stop when in Glen Ellen

Visiting the room in which he wrote, just like he left it, and learning about his many astounding accomplishments during the short life he lived, was an exciting eye-opener. It's like stepping back in time... Quite thrilling, actually. You might want to revisit his wonderful stories after this visit to his home.

This small "strip mall" facing the road includes some interesting shops. Taste a bit of chocolate at Wine Chocolate and try to go home without a morsel or two from this wide variety of tasty treats. There is a corridor poster exhibit about local Glen Ellen history adjacent to the public restrooms. Indulge your Indian cravings for curry or samosas at Yeti. Go out back to watch the water glide by and a small artist workshop. Quite a pleasant urban oasis that's worth a stop!

and hear the horses,,,so much beauty at Beauty Ranch and history and stories,,,did I say "stories"...lots to take in and to admire and explore...take the time to take in the ruins...and don't miss the gardens and the cottage..must see the treasures Jack and Charmian collected on their travels and where he wrote and died...if you do nothing else,,,take the time to admire the short life of a very intriguing man...

Could I bring a group of seniors for a tour and lunch; and how would we get there using public transportation?

There is no public transportation except to Glen Ellen. The site is up in the hills. If you had rental vans, you can park fairly near the cottage in the lot. There is a picnic area near the cottage. Lunch also could be in Glen Ellen at the Fig or Glen Ellen Inn.
