I came to the park to see evidence of the Calaveras Fault creep.

There are few places in the USA where you can see such an amazing example of earthquake fault creep and scarp. But, you'll be competing for space with some drunk vagrants. The park should be a great place for families to visit, but I'd be afraid of having my kids running free.

Not the safest park with the homeless that congregate around there. But during the day time, with the proper adult supervision, the Children will really like the playground and roomy grass area.

I refuse to go to this park. It is down right scary. I have taken my son 1 time. Never again. This park is where the home less likes to hang out, smoke around children, do drugs, sleep, drink. It is awful. It is disgusting here & scary as all get out.

quiet neighborhood park. Nothing out of the ordinary or special. The tennis courts have been resurfaced recently and are smooth.
There is a homeless population that mingles at the top of the park, and sometimes they get a little loud as the afternoon passes.

Dunne Park has a pleasant playground for kids, tennis courts, picnic tables and barbecue and a rose garden. A kids' baseball games (PAL etc.) are across the street. It has a club house that can be rented for parties. Civic events are held here (Kids in the Park etc.). They may promote more music events here. The earthquake fault means the site has a small hill, which kids like to roll down. The grass is getting brown because of the drought. Homeless people may hang out here.

Dunne Park is located in central Hollister, California, bordered on the north by Sixth Street, the south by Fifth Street, on the east by West Street and on the west by Powell street. The Calaveras Fault line passes directly through both Fifth and Sixth Streets (and the Park) deforming curbs, pavement asphalt, walls, and even houses. One side of the fault (western) creeps steadily north, and the other side creeps steadily South. There are many signs of this creep movement along the edges of Dunne Park: cracked roadway blacktop, broken curbs, bent walls along both Fifth and Sixth streets between Powell and West. There is a slight depression in both the Park and running across these streets looking like a slight dip which is the fault line itself. There are other signs of fault creep nearby: specifically 359 Locust, 164 Locust, 608 central and 575 Fourth Streets. Hollister is truly a geological tour de force in quake terms! Because you can see so much seismic activity in this small area, Hollister shares the title of Earthquake Capital of the California with the town's of Coalinga and Parkfield. Dunne Park in Hollister is only 9 miles directly east of the town of San Juan Bautista, California (where the San Andreas Fault lies) along California Highway 156 (and 156 Business into the Center of town). Enjoy!
