Stay on the Cruise Boat

Green Era tour purchased through Viator. Sihanoukville is the dirtiest place I have ever been. It was disgusting and not worth visiting. We took the "Glimpse of Sihanoukville" shore excursion, and all of us wished that we had stayed on the boat. The "fishing village" was a fishing boat pier covered in dog excrement, trash, and fish guts. We watched as fishermen shoveled fish from the dirty concrete pier into plastic bags for sale. The pier was crowded and smelly, there was a very real risk of accidentally stepping off the pier or being crowded off. The fishermen ignored us to the point of actually urinating while we were walking past their boat. The bus we were transported in was small, old, and very uncomfortable. We were crammed into it, some had to use foldable jump seats. The road to the waterfall was described as a "free massage" since it was so bumpy. Then when we arrived the waterfall was a mere trickle since there had been very little rain lately. After enduring the heat, smells, and sights of trash everywhere, no one wanted to risk eating lunch on the beach so we asked to be taken back to the cruise boat instead of the beach. The guide was very personable, and provided cold bottled water and beer.

Great day with a local tour guide

A local guide on this full-day tour of Sihanoukville. We visited small fishing villages, sandy beaches,and beautiful Buddhist temples, and Kbal Chhay Waterfall where the children in the village were dancing under the waterfall and we experienced some local food. We visited Phsar Leu Central Market (huge place) with some great bargains and observed daily life in rural Cambodia as we drive through the countryside. Hotel or port pickup and drop-off provided
round-trip transportation, entrance fees, We stopped for lunch (own expense) at a local cafe on the beach to have lunch, the food was beautiful and very cheap. The guides on this tour were great and as they were local were able to show and explain about all the places we went to.
