Definitely worth a visit. The museum gives you an essential history knowledge that everyone should know. I also liked the fact that admission for students was free. The staff is so nice too.

A friend told me his visit to the Holocaust Museum in West Los Angeles changed his life. Not to be missed.

This is a wonderful museum devoted to a very dark period in modern history. It is well laid out and the personal effects of some of the victims are haunting in their evocation of lives which never reached their full potential. The docents are wonderful and very welcoming.
Some constructive criticism: I found many of the signs difficult to read because of the lighting. To my surprise, the very last exhibit had lighting which was superb; I could read everything easily. The exhibit which had such great lighting was the one "In Memory of Rose and Arnold Rakoszynski". If budget allows at some point, it would be very beneficial to emulate this lighting throughout the museum. The other criticism I have was the audio recorder which was offered to assist with the self-guided tour. I had much difficulty getting it to follow the exhibits and about half way through it suddenly went dark and announced that there was no internet connection. I tried everything I could to get it to work, but with no luck. So I continued on the tour without benefit of this guide.

We throughly enjoyed this small museum. It was so informative and the artifacts and articles were amazing. The Covid protocol was appreciated very much. We stayed 3 hours. I would have like to stayed longer to take more time to read every detail but we were on a strict time limit to get to another destination. I highly recommend visiting this museum and allowing yourself a few hours.

Very moving. I like how the displays have been ordered chronologically, it's free, but the suggested donation is $ 10, which is frankly a bargain for what you get. The audio guide was extensive and informative.

I have always had a historical interest in the Holocaust and have visited numerous museums and monuments to this horrific period in relatively recent history, including visits to the Auschwitz and Dachau Concentration / Death Camps. So when I stumbled across the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust when visit the Pan Pacific Park I just had to take a look. Sadly I only had about 45 minutes spare and so I had to rush around which was a real shame as the museum looked very well done with some interesting exhibits. Obviously it is a museum that you visit with sadness and one that evokes emotion but people need to understand and learn about these terrible acts on humanity. For me one of the poignant articles was the soiled and tattered Concentration Camp Uniforms... There are many powerful photographs that are distressing and could offend the young so whilst I encourage parents to teach their children about this time in our history I recommend that parents exercise caution and maybe 'guide' their youngsters around the museum. Entry was free but donations are suggested, and deserved. I hope to visit again one day when I have more time to take it all in.

This is a grim reminder of the cruelty and insanity of man. You cannot walk through here and not deeply feel the pain of these people who were caged, experimented upon and killed. The experience is visceral and very emotional. The pictures and exhibits are real and you almost feel like you are there in the camps. Wow!

Founded by survivors of the Holocaust, this is the best museum of its kind in the West. Docents, all volunteers, are well trained, informative and enthusiastic.

Does it seem fair to lower the score because you compared it? Did you not think that maybe there will be people who will never get to DC and thus will not be able to see that museum but will skip this one because of your low score? Just some thought provokng questions...

IMHO I don't believe it's fair at all... I think it should be scored on the merits of this museum and only this museum.
Sadly in our world, there is much bigotry, hatred, ignorance intolerance and racism. Museums like this are a way to educate people about what had happened and hopefully by teaching people about the horrors that humans inflicted upon each other it will prevent the devastation from happening again.
If the museum was bad, then it would deserve a low score but you're scoring it low because it is small and you prefer the other because it is bigger and can hold more. Do you think the museum is not able to teach people about history and what happened? Is this museum doing it's job? Is it telling the story of what happened in a way that shows us what happened in those dark days? Is the museum allowing us to be a part of history so we can put ourselves in the shoes of the people who were treated so horribly and then murdered. Does it allow us to have a good understanding of what those millions of people went through? If the answer is yes, than it deserves a higher score. because it is smaller and can't hold the bigger objects, it makes this museum not as worthy...
It's like saying Disneyland isn;t good because Disney World is much bigger and has more things, but if you rate Disneyland on it's own merits it deserves a high score! I think that anology is much closer to what we are discussing than a croissant.
I would hate to think that by you scoring this museum, low it might stop someone from visiting it and benefiting from that visit...
For me the museum did its job. It made me think and feel things, I felt so much that I cried and by me learning so much that I did not already know the museum did it's job and did it very well.
I just don't see your point

It is smaller. I have been to both, and they are both worthwhile. I highly recommend this museum.
