One of the most beautiful and magical places I have ever visited. There were things that happened on Mount Shasta that changed my life exponentially for the better. This is one enigmatic part of the world travellers of spirit should make the effort getting to.

While driving through northern California, it is impossible to miss the imposing Mount Shasta. There were two viewpoints that we stopped at to see Mount Shasta. The first was along northbound I-5 about 15-20 miles south of the town of Mount Shasta. The viewpoint is along the highway and gives a distant view of the mountain.
To get a much closer look, we drove up the side of the mountain to the Bunny Flat Trailhead that was about 10-15 miles from the town of Mount Shasta. This gives a much closer view of the mountain and was also where many groups started their climb up the mountain. There was a decent number of parking spots available around the trailhead and vault toilets were available.

We were passing Mt. Shasta on our Pacific northwest tour. Amazing views of a snow capped peak rising from the flat area around. Several places to stop along the way to capture some amazing pics.

The area in and around Mount Shasta is just magical. The town itself is small and quiet. You will want to get what you need from town before it gets too late because many places do close fairly early. The outdoor playground is incredible. There are tons of trails and waterfalls and lakes to explore. Check out the trails in the local visitors guides and ask the locals for their favorite places to explore. They vibe in the town is very laid back. I would highly recommend exploring this special place!

I stayed for a week to ski, snowboard, snowshoeing and snow mobile fun. That was the only good part.
Store owners are rude. A rudeness I have never encountered in my life of travel. ( except the Crystal Room. The people there are amazing and the show floor is exquisite ) the other rock shop ... next door...Soul Connections... The owners, especially the wife, rolled her eyes at me and my group. Not helpful. Purely negative and unwarranted rudeness.
I wanted to find a book shop and buy a book to read. Found one. The owner there made snide comments and acted bazaar. Just snobbery galore in the entire town. No point in shopping there. The "energy" is so negative it almost ruined our groups and my trip.
No where to eat out at 7 or 8 pm. After a long day of snow play... and by the time you pack up and get down the mountain or back from the ski park ..get all your things in your AnB or hotel room... There is no restaurant open. Unless you want a hamburger at black bear diner. Can't do hamburgers for 8 days. Starbucks in the morning there took 45 minutes in line. 7 Suns is the better alternative... But can be just as packed and slow. Their food is too greasy. Do not go to Mike and Tony's Italian food. It was the worst I ever had in America. Overpriced prison food. High dollar places also do not know how to serve food properly. Rather eat at the gas station. Stg
I would rather spend my time in Tahoe for snow fun. Because I own all my ski, boards and snow equipment I didn't rent. But I know the prices. It's outrageous. Especially for a group. Not worth it. Tahoe has better prices and especially for groups and their ski parks and sow pack are far superior. Ashland, Oregon also is far better alternative and just 1.5 hours north.
So ... Unless you want to be snubbed... Looked down upon... Treated rudely...by snobby ( gross looking hippies) new age rs... who brag about positive energy but reek of quantifiable negativity... by all means... go to Mt. Shasta. If you are looking for a positive trip where everyone loves life and wants to share it and have something wonderful to say when you get home.. go anywhere else but Mt. Shasta.
One STAR... possibly 2 STARS.... The snow was great. 🤔

Mt Shasta is one of the 7 holy mountains of the world. 26000 came to visit it last year. It has a power CC and presence that is exceptional and palpable. Indigenous peoples have called it the center of our universe. There’s much to see. Worth a visit.

Drove up the Everett Memorial Highway to its end >7000 feet. I liked the red firs that last bit. Got several good shots even though NO snow left.

We were surprised but not shocked to see so many plastic wrappings of chocolate in this place. The view of the mountain is there but no cleared paths marked for access.

Hi, I am planning to visit during thanksgiving weekend. It is forecasted to rain/snow a lot. Please suggest me how I should plan. Should I avoid visiting during this time? Would the volcanic tubes and caves be accessible?

Wow! That sounds like a fun trip! Here’s a link to Caves if Mt Shasta area.
Site: visitmtshasta
Add the appropriate website characters which this page did no allow me to do.
Also call 530-238-2341 or 1-800-795-CAVE.
They recommend wearing appropriate safety gear including long sleeves, long pants, closed-toed shoes or boots, gloves, kneepads and helmets. (Gloves, kneepads, helmets and flashlight can be purchased at the visitor center.) Flashlights can also be checked out for free at the visitor center.
It looks like the caves and lava beds are accessible year round, but check the site for hours of guided tours. Ps. Take pics!!

Hi thank you for your following post, "So many things to do. I went to the Panther's meadow and went to the main vortex for meditation. Look around and search around, there is so much to see and take in."
Please tell us where is the Main Vortex located about how far from Panther's meadow. Thank you in advance for reading this question.
We are taking our first trip there at the end of August and years of feeling it from our hearts.
Sedona's vortexes are one of our favorite locations and believe the Mt. Shasta's pure energy will be indescribable.

Hola

We're planning to visit Mt Shasta this December 26-28, 2017. We plan to visit the caves, do some snow activity (not skiing), go hiking to some of the water falls, and visit Bunny flats for sure. We will be staying in Redding. We have a sedan Nissan Altima. 1. Would it be ok to visit these spots in our sedan, back and forth from Redding ? 2. Would it be ok to do a day trip from Redding to Crater lake in December ?
撰写日期:2017年12月12日
We travelled up from Mt Shasta to crater lake and there had been snow on the roads but they had been cleared. I believe we were lucky but The East rim was closed. Bearing in mind this was October 25th so it may be worse in December. I think it would be advisable to check on the weather on the crater lake national park site to save a wasted journey. If it is open it is beautiful .

Do we need a 4WD vehicle to get to Bunny Flat or a sedan car is okay?
撰写日期:2017年9月21日
We had a SUV, not 4-wheel drive; did not experience any problems.

I am planning for a birthday weekend getaway in October. Since it is a short visit, (plan to see Burney Falls and McCloud Falls as well), i don't have enough time to climb the mountain. Any suggestion which trail is not to far from the town, easy to access...I just want to see the mountain though from a distance but at least at the foot of the mountain or so....
撰写日期:2017年9月21日
you can see the mountain from every point. But you must feel the atmospire there.

If you could only make time to see one location, which would it be and why? Mount Shasta or Trinity Alps? Thank you.
撰写日期:2017年8月20日
I guess my question to you would be what is it you would be doing at either location? Hiking, camping, sight seeing?? Both have great hiking and spectacular views. The Alps have a lot of high lakes that are beautiful as well as rugged cliffs. Shasta is much to offer as well a a quaint little town full of character.
If it's hiking and lake I'd say the Alps. You really can't go wrong either way.
Hope some of that helps.
