Of valley floor and nice view of Pacific Ocean and Chanel islands .. there is a meditative walk place up there that requires no prior res, you can park, sign in and have a 360 view which is stunning. We drove to end of road , admiring homes and stopping to look at views , wondering how the garbage trucks get up there!

This is a long steep road up Sulphur Mountain, and it's a dead end. There is also a Sulphur Mountain Rd off #33 between Cassitas Springs and Oak View but that is very short. The scenic one is in Upper Ojai off Highway 150 (they used to be connected). Larry Hagman's home was near the top.

There is really no place to park at the "trail-head", you can only hope that you don;t get parked-in (or ticketed). This is a local access road not a hiking trail - much better for biking than hiking. The views truly are spectacular, all the way to the ocean and across the Ojai Valley. Also, of the mansions some of which seem straight from Central Casting.

On a sunny March morning, my wife and I road up the road side on Sulphur and came down the dirt trails. It was a heart pumping 800 meter climb to the top but once there the views of the valley was spectacular. On this clear day, the Pacific Ocean and Channel Islands were within sight. The way down can be a bit technical, especially given the spring mud. I was on a gravel bike and my wife on a Benno e-bike. You definitely need some stubby tires and a sturdy bike. I am an avid road cyclist but could not have done this without the support of our guide Kelly from the Mob Bike Shop. I would definitely recommend hiring a guide if new to this area. Otherwise finding the path and navigating the spring mud would have been a bit much.

Sad but interesting ride. Shows the devastation that Nature is capable of doing. However, saw the resiliency of the people, free services including food, water and legal. The thank you signs to the firemen and women , and first responders shows the appreciation of the citizens.

Ideal place for a walk in the country. If you make it to the top you are rewarded with superb ocean views. Otherwise, walk among the Oaks and wild flowers.

The best way to see this is to drive up Sulphur Mountain Rd. from Highway 150 until you reach the gate and can drive no further. Park alongside the road, then hike up the old road for great views. It is a relatively easy hike, and dog-friendly. There are some residences along the road, but not too many and they are rarely seen. Hike as long as you like, but if you go the whole way you will end up on the north-eastern side of Ojai with no way to get back to your car. So it is best to turn back around at some point and retrace your steps.

When weather is not too hot, my partner and I like to hike the trail up Sulphur Mountain. It is a relatively easy hike going uphill that even a beginner can handle. This is a peaceful and beautiful place to hike.

We have biked, Hiked and horseback up Sulphur Mountain. Much easier on horseback:) Challenging ride and hike but well worth the trip and views.

Great beginner - intermediate mountain bike experience.
10 miles of downhill on fire road from top of Sulphur Mountain
Ride the trail up from Casitas or drive through Ojai to get to the top of the mountain..
We had the guys at the Mob Shop in Ojai drive and drop us at the top. Work with Tim at the shop in Ojai - they were fabulous.

Highly recommended. I road it on my road bike, and you can too, you won't regret it. I picked up the dirt trail that starts right off of 33 and road it to the paved road that drops down to 150. The peak is about 2,800 feet.
