Nice walk

It is a fare walk to get there but you do have the ocean next to you. The lighthouse is not very special to look at like many other lighthouses. It is fenced in and not much to see. Apparently there are tours on the 3rd Saturday of the month.

Just another lighthouse

There are a lot of lighthouses on the California coast and this one really doesn't stand out in any way. Add it to your list, but don't expect much more.

Beautiful

Have lived in the area my whole life and had never been to the lighthouse. It's an absolutely beautiful scene on the top. Well worth the time. The best part, its free.

Interesting lighthouse

Not much to see as we visited on the 2nd Saturday of the month. (Open for tours on the 3rd Saturday only) This lighthouse is different from most I’ve seen. A good little walk down the beach from the nearest parking area. But a paved, flat surface so nothing strenuous. Even though the lighthouse was closed the water view was lovely-definitely worth the walk.

Lighthouse Tour

This lighthouse is run by the USCG. They do a good job on explaining this little lighthouse that is only open once a month. (Which is the 3rd Saturday of every month.) If you are in the area check it out. You have a nice little walk to the end of the promenade on Hueneme Beach and if you are lucky, you will see a ship come or go. You can walk up the stairs at the lighthouse and get a great view of the Port of Hueneme.

Deco House

This lighthouse is fenced off and is within the parameter of a huge customs facility at Point Hueneme. It's only open to the public only on the third Saturday of each month. You can walk up to it by parking at the intersection of 200 S Market and 100 E Surfside Drive. You then have to walk about a half mile back to the facility. The road back to it is paved. Unfortunately I was not there on the right Saturday but it is a cool building.

Free & Interesting Tour

We went for a walk along the beach trail and found the Point Hueneme Lighthouse. There was a sign posting their hours and that that the tour was free. Well hey who doesn't like free? Our docent was very knowledgeable and shared lots of little fun facts. the view from the top was nice you could see Anacapa.

Why was it closed?

We went during normal business hours and the lighthouse was closed. Perhaps it’s closed during June or something needed to be constructed or … In any case, it was closed but we could still see it and it was nice but it doesn’t beat a view from inside. I really wanted to see this one as it was going to be my wife’s first lighthouse, sigh.

Closed to visitors the day we went

I have always been fascinated by lighthouses. This was one place I really wanted to check out on our short visit here. We had a lovely walk, enjoyed the immense waves crashing on the rocks, but to our dismay the Lighthouse was closed that day so we did not get to go inside. Next visit I will check ahead. We will be back!

Open 3 Saturday each Month

Easy viewing from first floor with Coast Guard giving talk about light house, lens used history. Well planned and interesting. Great exhibits here also.

Climbing stairs and then a ladder to the top could be hard and scary for some. Great view from the top and Coast Guard person was there also. Challenging but worth it.
