I did my open water and nitrox certifications here. Great experience. They will take you from no prior knowledge to basically any recreational certification you want. The store matches internet prices so you can be confident you’re not overpaying for gear. They also keep a table of used gear on display in the middle of the store.

For whatever reason, my experienced-diver-wife thought 14 was the minimum age to get certified. Upon discovering it was 10, she enrolled me and our 2 daughters (11 and 12) for the Open Water Diver course. All the reviews posted are accurate...even the one star (although I would have been less severe...don't sign up unless you want to take the course...They're a small outfit and survived Covid. They schedule instructors at time of payment and it isn't fair to bail). It's not Disney Land nor should it be. When it comes to diving, safety is most important. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. The course is thorough and our instructor was patient, making sure my daughters and I comprehended a skill before moving to the next one. As a teacher, I like the repetition during both the online course (8-10 hours) and the pool instruction (8hrs). The open water is a different ballgame with tricky currents, depths/pressures, lacking the security of a confined pool. We couldn't have been more prepared for our open water tests (in Cabo) where the conditions were challenging. MDC prepared us to successfully complete our certifications, opening up a whole new world for our family to explore together (cheaper and more fun than therapy). We are lucky to have such a great local dive shop in our community.

Signed up for a course and was unable to attend, so requested a refund or store credit. They refused (quite rudely), citing their "no transfers or refunds" (aka we've got your money and we're not giving it back) policy. I wish I had checked out the Yelp reviews from 2022 before going to the store as I would have seen numerous other people reporting similar experiences.

Amazing Fun 2 Dive Day in Monterey with Marin Diving Center! From sizing gear, check in gear, diving at the site and returning gear, everything went flawlessly. Great group of people here if you're looking for equipment rentals, sales, classes or getting out in the water for fun!

I had an amazing time on the Philippines trip. The diving was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the accommodation was lovely. I especially loved the second hotel because the infinity pool was amazing.

I got certified in Taiwan, and had always dove in the warm water. After I moved to San Francisco, I wanted to go diving and explore the ocean, but I had no dive partners here, so I went to the Marin Diving Center, they first offered me a refresher course, this class was so helpful, totally helped me to practice diving in the cold water (Monterey, Sonoma coast, and channel island). Since then, I have been going to a fun dive every month(you can find out the fun dive dates on their website). People normally willing to give me a ride and dive with me. I always meet new friends. If you are looking for a dive shop, Marin Diving Center is the place to go. You will never get disappointed.
