Although the mid-week tasting menu is limited -- only five selections -- the wine ranges from good to very good, and some prices are reasonable. We found a very good Pinot Noir. Wish we could have tasted others.

We were staying in Santa maria for a couple of nights and saw Costa de oro as we were driving in to the town. We visited during our stay and tried the tasting package. This included trying 5 red wines for $10 per person. The staff member that served us was knowledgeable about the business and the wines. There was also no pressure to purchase wines after the taster session.

If you are a wine drinkers this is a good stop and easy off and on the 101. The wines are modestly priced but quite tasty. This family run place has a wine club that ships quarterly with as few as 2 bottles. They produce a white for the Four Seasons resort on Hawaii (the big island) that is just magnificent. They also make Pinot noir like most of the Santa Maria wineries, it is quite good also.

CDO has been treating locals to fine wines, good vibes by great local musicians (you hear that Terry L.?) and run by a friendly staff and Owners who make you feel at home.

I really love the wines at Costa de Oro and the tasting room experience is always a good time. On Friday nights, it's really fun with great music, snacks...and of course, wine! On my most recent visit, I went on a quiet afternoon, but still enjoyed the friendly ambiance. Great people and delicious wine - try the Dijon pinot noir, just wonderful.

Stopped here to get some wine as Thank Yous for some friends. The staff happily opened a bottle of their $40 reserve wine; and we're glad they did. It was great and we happily bought a bottle. The other wines were good too. We stopped on a Friday night and there was a live band playing oldies which was great. Dinner was also available.. but we didn't stay to eat. A good place of good wine.

On our way up the west coast, we made our 1st ever wine tasting visit. We were fortunate to meet the friendly owner winemaker couple. Managed to try their award winning wines & got a great tip for BBQ ribs in town.

The woman who conducted the tasting was very informative and was quite low key which I liked. I thought the pino noir was very solid and prices were reasonable. I would go back if I was in that area again.

We were disappointed at Costa de Oro. The wines were pretty mediocre and the server clearly couldn't have cared less about discussing wine or serving it well. Her primary focus while we were there were some friends who came to visit her. That would be fine, but they brought fast food with them which tended to add some unwanted aromas to the tasting room. This wouldn't have bothered me so such if they wine was any good. Alas on that front, Costa de Oro fails.
