This is a fairly large area that seems to hold various buildings including a gallery space, a restaurant, and a theater. We just drove around and then parked to walk the spacious lawn and planting areas. Many of the plants/trees were labeled and there was quite a lot to see, including some very manicured, formal garden areas with sculptures. A very nice way to spend a quiet afternoon on a nice day.

We came here for hiking and it did not disappoint. The trails are nicely shaded by tall trees except for the lookout point (fortunately) which offers a good view of downtown San Jose in the distance. As a bonus, there is a nicely landscaped Italianate Garden across the lawn from the villa.

I enjoyed going walking at Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga. This is a wonderful place to go with green trees, grass areas, and the historic buildings. I enjoyed also seeing deer.
It was fairly quiet when I went.
Usually in the summer, its a very busy time due to the very good concert schedule. This year due to the virus Montalvo is delaying that (or not at all.).
As such, its very peaceful and quiet right now for a nice walk.

This used to be someone's house, which was donated to the city, so big and has hiking trails in the back and concert venue. I wish they had a cafe to take a break and enjoy big trees, but I don't ask too much.. I think parking is free but limited (no admission fee). That's probably why they provide buses back and forth from WV college when there's a concert. Before you go, check their hour and if it's open cuz they have some private parties and events, and we can't get in, esp on weekends. Today I saw some photo shootings, wedding dress shots?

The outdoor arena seats approximately 1200 people - give or take 200. They used to host really wonderful jazz concerts here but then decided to make it a haven for "artists". We ceased our membership as it was no longer what we were looking for. Beautiful setting though.

Whenever we want somewhere relaxing in nature we come here. The only issue is that the hiking trails and grounds can get crowded on weekends. But the spectrum of formal gardens, exotic cacti, redwoods and mountain hiking, and formal mansion where events are held, makes this a real gem. One of the area’s major assets.

We made a quick stop to wander thru the grounds and view the sculptures and architecture. Defiantly a wonderful place to re-visit.

Beautiful setting - architecture, garden design, graceful tree canopies. Attended a young friend's nuptials that included an initial reception, traditional ceremony, hosted bar, traditional Indian ceremony, dinner, and post dinner reception and dancing. It was a full afternoon and evening of enjoying the setting and the event. Couldn't have been a more wonderful wedding in a most distinctive and beautiful setting.

It is an art center with trails and towering tree canopies. Its Oval Garden and Italian garden are great for wedding ceremonies and reception. The catering service is great also.

Planning to do a Channel Island sea cave kayaking day trip at the end of July, with my 18-yo son. Both beginner kayakers but in decent shape. Hope to visit Painted Cave if possible. Can anyone tell me the difference between the various outfitters (Channel Islands Outfitters, Santa Barbara Adventures, Aquasports....)? Really hard to tell the difference on their websites. Thank you!
