Very old school, very charming place to buy some candy. Lots to choose from and it is a candy-lovers paradise. Dangerous if you have small kids who will not want to leave.

We have lived in Truckee full time for over 15 years. I have bought from this place for special occasions because of how over priced they are. However, I will never spend another dime here. I was shopping with my 10 year old for presents for Valentines day, and the lady behind the desk kept yelling at us for looking around. Literally. She had the door open at 7 degrees so we went to the back to browse. She kept telling us to go to the front. I told her we were cold and well look back here. She was so rude and mean that my 10 year old even asked if she was mad at me. It was the worst experience I have ever incurred here in Truckee. My family will not support businesses as this one.

What an amazing shop to stop in while visiting g downtown TRUCKEE! Chocolate EVERYWHERE! You can even watch them make it, sooo awesome! Kids will go crazy here!!

Came in to buy dark chocolate treats - toffee, almonds and cashews - the best was the almond - I've had better quality dark chocolate - but this was tasty.

Love picking out a few treats here. They usually are making chocolates or fudge or caramel in front, so it's fun to watch. The smell is wonderful!

We were casually walking past, minding our own biz, then wham, fudge fudge fudge!! Went in and tested. It was amazing. Left with 4 slabs!!!

Hidden gem in downtown Truckee.
A great selection of fudges, candies and smoothies.
Staff was very friendly and very helpful
Prices are on par for what you are getting.
Love that they had about 6 sugar free options.

Went to sweets for an ice cream. Was so so. Nothing special. Several of us and all had different flavors. Same with candy. We found it expensive.

We visited Sweets Handmade Candies on a quiet Tuesday (August 15). There were two young women working there, filling bags with licorice. We were the only customers in the store. One of the young women offered us a sample; we asked if it contained egg. She said it had heavy cream in it. We said "egg - not dairy". At this she turned to the other young woman who said "it has egg". They then turned their backs on us and returned to filling bags with licorice while chatting. My husband wanted some candy from the display case and I wanted to know what if anything didn't contain egg. The two workers were so engrossed in their conversation that we couldn't get their attention. My husband said "excuse me" and one appeared to glance over her shoulder at us but then she turned back to filling bags and chatting. We stood at the counter and waited but they continued to ignore us. So we left. There is a 'help wanted' sign in the shop window - we can definitely see why.
