Megan is fantastic! It was great to do this at the beginning of our week so that we knew the lay of the land and great places to eat. Megan is so knowledgeable and so interesting. The restaurants and tastings we had were delicious and we have gone back to them. She answered all our questions and pointed out lots of landmarks. We can’t wait to do our tour of Denver next week!

We did a private tour recently with Local Table Tours. Leading up to the tour, the owner and I exchanged several emails to craft the perfect custom tour as it was for a special occasion. I wanted to go all out and was willing to spend $150/per person when she quoted me $125/per person (normal tours are around $90/person).
We met our tour guide (the owner) in the lobby of our hotel. We proceeded to walk to the first destination, Arabesque, a Middle Eastern restaurant. The owner of the restaurant was amazing and a lot of fun. She brought us out a yummy plate of chicken and potatoes and a hummus and pita app. The food was great and the owner was a real character. On this stop we only had water with our food. We were a bit surprised when our tour guide helped herself to the food without asking us if it was ok. Given the current environment, I think sharing from one plate with the tour guide was a bit odd.
We finished up and headed to our next destination, where it was clear the tour hadn’t made advance reservations/plans. No tables were available where we planned to go so we took seats elsewhere. Our guide told us to stay put and someone would bring us water, while she went up to get a burrata from the 4th floor. No one came to offer us water as we waited a good ten minutes and finally, when our guide returned, she went to the bar to order it. Also, no drinks at this stop on the tour. We were disappointed not to visit the restaurant, since the point of the tour is to discover great places, and maybe even a bit jealous that our tour guide was up chatting with the owner while we waited in the confusing space (it was sort of like a mall food court). Again she ate with us, by now we had figured out that's just how this tour would work.
The next stop was at a honey shop that did mead tastings. Finally some drinks! We never had mead so it was interesting. The people working at the mead tasting were really nice and it was clear they knew we were coming so no issues with seating, etc. I did again find it odd that the tour guide got her own mead tasting….I’ve been on many food tours all over the world and never had a tour guide participate in the alcohol part of the tour (and only food when it is individual servings).
Then we were on to the Tiki bar for some tiki drinks…..except we had a pre-ordered pina colada come out. The drink menu looked great and for a private tour with only a couple of people I would have expected we should have been able to choose our own drinks. I would have liked to try a drink of my own choosing (or at least a small menu we could have chosen from). The tour guide once again had a drink at this stop. By now I felt like I was just paying her to drink and talk about herself all day…... I was ready to cut bait and go. We had two more stops to go though.
The next stop was at a steakhouse. The steakhouse looked amazing- really cool vibe. Our tasting there was a half a bison burger, fries and red wine. As there were only two of us the guide didn’t have a burger but did have a glass of wine. I was initially disappointed that we went to a steakhouse and got the burger but the burger was amazing! Juicy and tender and had the best seasoning. Hands down one of the best burgers I have ever had. The service there was top notch as well. Then onto a chocolate truffle shop. Which was excellent. We each just tried one truffle there as part of the tour. But we did end up going back and get more to take home with us.
Overall, for the price I paid I expected it to be a customized tour and it was not. We could have spent the same money or less and planned our own foodie tour using Yelp, recommendations, etc and had a much better time. The tour guide didn’t give us much information about food or the restaurants in the area, except when she told us who we should visit/not visit but purely from a political standpoint and had nothing to do with the food. She did give us random bits of morbid and negative information about the town, which really set a dark mood.
The total tour was 4 hours (which was way longer than I expected). Final tally: two dishes, two apps, two drink stops and one dessert. From a food perspective, I would say it was mostly average (except for the steakhouse) and the total cost of the food we sampled could not have been even a fraction of the cost of the tour. I understand we are also paying for the tour guide’s time but this seemed not a good value for what we paid, especially given the guide talked about herself and her views constantly and had to be asked repeatedly for information about the food scene in Boulder. I hope this was a one-off as other reviews of this business are good but overall I would not recommend wasting your money.

I wanted something fun and different for my family to do together on our weekend away to Boulder. We flew in from SC, NYC and Houston to spend together and chose Boulder to base from. I wanted a foodie tour and found Megan! She was great to work with and we had a private 2 hour tour! Knowledgable and interesting! We went to 4 different places and enjoyed them all! Thanks Megan!

Having always been a fan of city walking tours as a way to get introduced to a new place or simply see a familiar one through a new lens, I was optimistic about Local Table Tours. It was my first time doing a "food" tour and while you don't get the historical background on a city's major tourist attractions, you do get the experience of what being a local is like. I'm a frequent traveler to Boulder and have become very familiar with the area, but LTT took us to 3 places I hadn't yet been to and they were all great. I'd brought a group to Boulder for work and was looking for something other than the typical work dinner for our nightly mandatory fun. Very grateful to have found LTT where we booked a private tour of 11 people, all of whom really enjoyed this unique night out. Service at the restaurants was excellent and was very nice to walk in to a table waiting for us with food on the tables in seconds at each stop. Anne was a fantastic tour guide and felt like part of our group. Thanks Anne and LTT!

Thanks for your nice review! We don't specialize in the history of Boulder- we actually suggest taking a Boulder Walking Tour to learn historical facts. We specialize in food and can tell you most of the history of the Boulder food scene, how we got to become America's "Foodiest" Small Town, and steer you in the right direction for all things food. Thanks for bringing your team on tour. Team building is best when we eat, drink, walk, and repeat. Looking forward to hosting you again!

One of the best things about a review site is that you can trust what people are writing. Participants have nothing to gain or lose by sharing their experience in an honest way hoping only to edify their community and pass on good tips. With that being said, writing a less than five star review is hard to do for the same reason. You know the owner has worked hard to build a company and they are also part of the community. I have communicated with the owner about this review and she responded that my feed back was some of the best she had received, this shows she is open for improvement, which is a positive sign for any business.

I booked our Local Table food tour over a month ahead of the date we hoped to attend. Although, my card was charged, there was no confirmation of purchase or mention of where to meet. I waited a couple weeks as to not be a pain in the neck, and finally contacted the owner to make sure there hadn't been a mistake. She replied quickly and mentioned that a new registration system was to blame. She also said another email would be sent the week of, as a reminder. I never received that promised email either and when it was brought up on the tour, I was surprised that EVERY other person on the tour said the same thing. A few even said they even wondered if the food tour was a fake business and hoped they hadn't been duped when they showed up.

Our tour guide was very sweet and it was apparent she was trying hard, but when the owner reached out a day after our tour and mentioned this had been her first big tour, solo, it was not a surprise. The first two restaurants were beautiful and what we hoped for, but they seemed rushed as we tried to get to know our table mates. The tour was expected to end at 5pm, but we were in our car and on the road by 4:38, so it must have ended very early as we actually had parked a few blocks away. I wish we could have slowed down the pace, as food tours invite a celebration of a social event. Ice breaker questions included how long have you been married and how many kids do you have? For some, this set of questions wasn't hard to answer, but for my friend and another couple these questions hit sensitive nerves. I later wrote that questions that were more personally appropriate like, "Spicy, Sweet or Sour?" Or "Chocolate or Vanilla?", might be a better fit because they don't require you to share potentially sensitive personal stories from the second you meet someone. My friend actually got up and left the table to go to the bathroom to avoid answering the questions and then was asked point blank to answer when she returned, even though the rest of the table had gone on to different topics. It was uncomfortable.

Two couples were visiting from out of state and when they asked what to do, our guide gave them little help, but suggested Colorado Springs. This would be about a two hour drive and they had previously mentioned Uber was their mode of transportation. Boulder and the surrounding areas have tons of things to do; that should have been the focus, not a town that is two hours away. The third visit was to a brewery. Only 2/6 were drinking alcohol on the tour at the first three stops and it seemed a little odd that the guide drank as much as they did. Maybe that is standard, but never has been on previous tours I have participated in. At the brewery, they ordered a pitcher of beer, but had to agree on what kind to get as they were only ordering one 1/2 pitcher. With 4 people not drinking and no price break offered, I'm surprised they didn't receive a flight of their own choosing. The waiter asked if we'd be having any other food besides the three shared pre-ordered appetizers. He didn't seem to know we were on a food tour. When one person asked what the name of the pizza was that we shared, she was told that the guide didn't know as they were pre-ordered by someone else to fit with happy hour menu. Our next stop was at a spice shop. There were no samples and we were told we could walk around and open bottles, pour spice in, and lick it from our hands. That did not seem very sanitary and some people voiced their frustration that they had basically paid to come into shop and sat on the bench up front. The last stop was a popsicle shop, it was a nice idea, but on a hot day many people had juice running down their arms and dripping on their clothes as we stood out in front of the shop in direct sun because the shop has no chairs to sit in. A nice touch would have been a wet wipe to keep from getting sticky. During this time, our guide suggested, again, that a five star review would be appreciated. In my opinion, reviews are earned and review inflation defeats the purpose of even having a review site. This experience was not bad, and the other guests made it fun, but it was a luxury spending activity that definitely did not compare to other food tours I've been on and didn't feel special or worthy of 5 stars.

I'm very let down personally that you feel it's so important for you to get on your soap box and write these reviews. When you personally reached out to me to tell me about what was disappointing, I responded with genuine gratefulness for telling me the new tour guide didn't actually perform as we had hoped she would. I then found your email to me basically verbatim on Yelp with a one star, and now two months later you come to Trip Adviser to copy and paste your email and say our tours are a let down. This review is literally the email you sent me that I immediately responded to and then you responded sounding like a nice woman who just wanted to let me know her thoughts. I'm not sure what your agenda is here. Your new guide wasn't great, you don't drink alcohol so you didn't appreciate alcohol being served yet you didn't ask me in advance for any drink substitutions, the spice shop wasn't interesting to you, and the new registration system apparently sent the detailed emails to a junk mail or spam filter. The guide you had is actually no longer on our team as she was not a good fit. Unfortunately, that happens sometimes. You start your review by talking about how much work goes into start a local business, and mention my receptiveness to your comments. Why you decided to lambast my business now is just beyond my comprehension and as a fellow human, quite a let down.

Downtown Boulder is the perfect place for a food tour. Loved the shopping experience as we would have missed it. Dessert was unique to Boulder.

The day was hot (99 degrees), the group was big (12 people), but Onnika’s tour was great. The first stop was Arcana where we were served a delicious drink and enough food to almost make an entire meal - the quiche was like none other. Next was a stop for tacos, mini-margaritas and a shot of mezcal. We then went a brew pub for pizza and beer, visited a spice shop, and finished the tour with refreshing gelato from Fior Gelato.
Because we did the tour early in our Boulder stay, we were able to go back to our favorite spot later in the week. The restaurants were all on or near Pearl Street, so we didn’t do very much walking. Despite the size of the group, it quickly seemed like we were all friends. We’ve done food tours in cities across the country and can confidently say that for the quality and quantity of food and drink, this tour is a great value.

Still being relatively new to the Denver/Boulder area, I reserved a Taste of Boulder tour for my wife and I. Little did I know how much fun and how interesting it would be!

We met Megan on the Mall for our tour and proceeded to our first stop. We lucked out in the sense that it was just the three of us for this tour. So the experience was even better in that we had a lot of opportunities to ask questions about Boulder, the food scene and greater Denver in general (Megan has been living in Boulder for over 12 years).

Over the next three hours we ate fantastic foods and had great drinks at multiple locations. unlike my wife, I'm not a foodie, but I enjoyed every single bite at every location. What made the experience even better was Megan's company and vast knowledge of all things Boulder.

We learned a lot on the tour and definitely want to do the Denver and Ft. Collins tours in the future. While I can't speak for those (yet!), I can highly, highly recommend the Taste of Boulder tour.

Our manager surprised us with a truly unique team building experience by treating the four of us to the Local Table Tours in Boulder. Megan, our expert guide led us into seven distinctive local establishments for culinary tastings with insider tips. Afternoon conversation was fun over fantastic food and the creative, welcoming atmosphere of each location. Savory to sweet, it was an interesting way to share original ideas in our own foodie town with coworkers. We all really enjoyed every step and every bite along the tour and look forward to sharing this experience with others (Ft Collins and Denver, here we come). Thank you Megan, we highly recommend Local Table Tours!

Stop thinking about it and DO THIS! It's so much fun! You visit a few local culinary treasures. You learn new things, try new things, or maybe revisit favorites in a new light. Each time I've toured, it's been a great adventure that everyone in the group has thoroughly enjoyed.

Thanks Jules! As the owner and lead guide, I couldn't agree more. I've been guiding groups for seven years now and it's still really fun every time, no matter which tour we're on.
