The Mecca of hardware stores. Everything you need can be found in these winding aisles. The employees there are ALWAYS looking to help and usually very knowledgeable. The greenhouse section is adorable and the employee there was suuuper helpful in teaching me when to repot and what soils to use, etc. Great store!

This may be the best hardware store I’ve ever been to in my life! Absolutely loved it. It’s big and has everything, including the classic hardware store smell (ahhhhh!), but what was really impressive was how friendly and helpful every employee was. I mean, every single employee I encountered! And there was seemingly an employee in every aisle, unlike the big box stores. Can’t recommend this place highly enough. If I lived in Boulder, this would my go-to place!

Best hardware store around. Super knowledgeable staff, they instantly know where stuff is, even if it's obscure.

McGuckin Hardware is such a fun place to visit, even most Boulder locals will you this. It is staffed with people who have expertise in whatever part of the store they work--plumbing, electrical, paint, woodwork, etc. The wall of kitchen gadgets is fun. You may find things you didn't even know you needed. I've lived in Boulder since 1963 and I still look forward to going to McGuckins!

Going to McGuckings hardware is a great experience. I always get great help and find what i need. Barry Hight is one of the most knowledgable guys I have ever met. and he is always there to help, along with all the other great people at McGuckins.

i have lived in Boulder and shopped here for over 40 years and it has saved my projects and repairs many times. Much better service than Home D. The employees are often ex or current contractors, handy person, gardener, craft person, etc. Yes it can be a little more expensive, although since they became an ACE associate many items are more competitive, and it often has the one replacement screw or part that you need and you can often get help with installing or replacing something. They can custom cut leather/glass/plastic/metal, make keys and all kinds of other little jobs on stuff. They have frequent tent sales with some cheap tools, but all the stuff inside is usually on sale also. All in all, I would recommend it as a place to visit or take out oft owners as well as a store that would be sorely missed if it was forced out by Home D. or Amazon.

I visit Boulder a couple of times each year. Each time this store is on my "must visit" list. It is a welcome relief from the Big Boxes. Locally owned, invested in the community, and staffed with sharp, friendly folks. Oh, and the inventory is endless -- anything you could possibly need from a hardware store and much more.

McGuckins is a good place to find things that other stores don't carry. But when I was there recently I purchased a replacement water storage for a backpack and asked 2 different workers I told them I was going to have my daughters try it and if it doesn't work for them can I return and they said yes just make sure you have the receipt.

Wide variety of many types of products not just hardware! Plus very helpful staff who will help you find what you want and help you learn how to use what you buy!

They have items you never imagined that they have or you would need. They have plenty of friendly help, ready to assist you in all their departments. Again you should put aside some time if it is your first visit in order to take in the volume of merchandise. I have bought great gardening tools here that you can't find in other hardware stores. Their selection of lightbulbs is stunning. I doubt that you will be disappointed or not find what you need.
