El recorrido por el parque es muy recomendable, merece mucho la pena la excursión hasta allí, le daría 5 estrellas, peeeeero... recomendación clara: comprar la entrada al PN antes de llegar allí, aunque no se sepa muy bien a qué hora exacta se llegará. Cometimos el error de no hacerlo al no tener claro cuánto tardaríamos en el trayecto, y al llegar allí nos encontramos todos los guiris con el mismo problema, no hay cobertura móvil y te ofrecen una wifi del parque para que compres la entrada, al no poder adquirirse en taquillas. Curiosamente, a ninguno nos funcionaba la conexión wifi, por lo que terminamos dando nuestra tarjeta a los numerosos guías que esperan en la entrada vendiéndote sus servicios, y que te venden el favor de sacarte la entrada a cambio de una propinilla. Realidad: la wifi pública falla más que una escopeta de feria y la que funciona es otra a la que acceden los guías, que así se aseguran una comisión. Por supuesto, los funcionarios de la entrada lo saben y permiten porque seguro que se llevan una mordida.

Belle promenade dans le parc national. Chemin bien balisé maison quelques fois difficile et s'il a plu, ce qui est fréquent, boueux. Prévoir poncho, bottes où chaussures de marche hautes, répulsif moustiques.

Great hike. Some up and down hiking but the falls, scenery, and wildlife were amazing. Took some great pictures.

Hike was treacherous!! Water was pretty but not worth the climbing up and down to the pond. Stairs better to the waterfall but we were too exhausted to enjoy .

I took a one day tour from La Fortuna (1.5 hour drive away), and had a great guide ( Crystal) lead us through the trails, looking for wildlife and explaining things we came across. Trails can be slippery and when raining, puddles form quickly, so be prepared with gripping footwear. Binoculars may be good to carry, as well as a raincoat/umbrella.

Ambitious hike with LOTS of stone stairs! Wear good shoes!!!! Many hikers were wearing flip flops?!? Gorgeous falls. A great side trip. Go early morning to avoid crowds!

My husband and I wanted to experience the wildlife and rainforest when we visited Costa Rica and chose this tour. We were blown away by the animals we saw - 2 types of sloths, coati, 2 frogs, 2 snakes, 2 monkeys, and a toucan. We were so excited about this. Our tour guide, Esteban, made the tour even more incredible. He was extremely knowledgeable and dedicated his time to help us see animals. Highly recommend and ask for Esteban!

Tubing on the river at a private Finca (estate) was a religious experience, beautiful flora and fauna, sloths, stork and noise jungle. Kudos to Alex and Anthony a couple of kids younger than my sons, but with experience like they were born on that river. Also Teban our guide from Destination Service in Liberia Costa Rica was wonderful as well.

I had hiked here once before with a guide. This time I hiked without a guide- you must purchase your ticket on line through Sinac. I recommend going early in the morning-since it seems to rain here in the afternoon in september. I wore topo shoes- the trail is groomed, can be muddy but was fine this time. I brought a rain jacket, water. Trail is marked well. There are a lot of steps down to Rio Celeste- take your time and enjoy it. After the waterfall, go further up the trail to see the mixing of the waters, Small bridge, gases seeping up through the water, and enjoy the sulfur smell 😀not too strong. This is the most beautiful waterfall I have ever seen!!!

A really lovely waterfall that is truly one of a kind. I have never seen a waterfall so blue before! To see the very clear definitive colour flocculation too between the two rivers was also something I will never forget. It really was a picture perfect waterfall that looks exactly like a holiday brochure! I’d say it is definitely worth the trip and you won’t be disappointed. However, be aware that the park is very busy. We got there pretty much as soon as it opened and there were already lots of people there. The earlier you get there, the better I think. As we were leaving we noticed how quickly the park filled up, so definitely be an early bird!

is there a place nearby the park where we can store luggage for 1 day (just for the afternoon).
There is a very small cafe adjacent to the park office at the entrance. Not sure if they would keep this for you. You might want to email the Tenorio Volcano National Park Office to see if staff would let you keep this in their booth where they sell tickets.

I don't know the fitness level of your children but I don't see a problem. There are quite a lot of stairs but you don't need to go down as you can see the waterfall also from above. I recomend to go early in the morning because of the heat and there are also less people. Enjoy!
