EcoWave became our home away from home while we were in Arugam Bay. We booked a lagoon tour with them one day, a safari another day, and stocked up on spices and gifts to bring home with us. Having the opportunity to spend our money with such kind people who are working to support their communities meant a lot to us. AND the tours were phenomenal. Ibrahim has an excellent eye and was able to point out to us more wildlife than we ever expected to see. He also seemed to genuinely enjoy being on the lagoon and in Kumana as well. In addition to what we were seeing on the tours we pestered him with all kinds of questions - do we tip? how much? do you know a good tuk tuk driver? how would you get to this city? how do you say thank you in Tamil? - etc. With a kind smile he patiently addressed all of them. We are so grateful for having the opportunity to meet Ibrahim, share some time with him over a few days, and meet some of the other staff at Eco Wave. Thank you so very, very much for everything!

We did the morning Lagoon tour with ecowave and can totally recommend it. Ismael is a very friendly person with unbelivable good eyes, so perfect for wildlive spotting! We also bought some spices . Ismael guided us which one we need for a Dahl curry and even told us the recipie so that we could write it down.

Our cooking course at Eco Wave was without a doubt the highlight of our stay in Arugam Bay, and the best food we had in Sri Lanka! Our family of 7 had such a fun time learning how to make an array of different delicious dishes (Chicken curry, tuna curry, daal, pumpkin, plantain curry, aubergine curry, coconut sambal). The class was very interactive and informative, and our eco-wave hosts were so helpful and friendly, and we cant wait to recreate the dishes at home . We would highly recommend this amazing class - incredible value for money too!!

Partenza ore 12 Pm dallo shop di Ecowave tra prodotti biologici a km zero equosolidali con destinazione il villaggio rurale di Panama e il Parco naturale riserva di Kumana.
A bordo di una jeep da vero e proprio safari in compagnia del simpaticissimo Ibrahim e del suo staff😊 ci dirigiamo verso la nostra prima tappa..Villa Mango a Panama dove siamo ospiti a pranzo a casa di una gentilissima signora che ci prepara un delizioso rice&curry.
Dopo di che partenza per il parco nazionale riserva naturale di Kumana...esperienza unica nella vita vedere coccodrilli..manguste..varani..bufali..elefanti..cervi..tartarughe..vari bellissimi uccelli..pavoni..orsi locali e leopardi..cinghiali.
Con il calare della sera ritorno sotto un bel cielo stellato e visita al tempio induista di Panama.
Grazie mille per averci regalato questo sogno e continuate a sostenere la comunità locale con il vostro grande progetto.

Das was diese Safari so besonders gemacht hat, war neben der wunderschönen Natur des Kumana NP und den vielen verschiedenen sowie außergewöhnlichen Tieren die wir gesehen haben: Ibrahim der Guide. Er weiß sehr viel über die Tiere und was das wichtigste ist: er respektiert sie und ihren Lebensraum. Er spricht super Englisch, konnte uns alle unsere Fragen beantworten und hat zu jedem Tier etwas zu erzählen. Außerdem ist er super nett und lustig! Die Safari war Lehrreich und Unweltfreundlich sodass es für Mensch ein super spannendes, schönes Erlebnis- UND für Tier ein stressfreies war. Dadurch dass Ibrahim auch auf sowas wie Spuren geachtet hat, haben wir es dann tatsächlich geschafft einen Leoparden zu erspähen! Außerdem Elefanten, kleine und große Krokodile, Wildkatzen, Rehe, Wildschweine, Hasen, wilde Büffel, Balck Neck Stork, diverse bunte Vögel, Warane uvm. Der Jeep war sehr geräumig und wir haben qualitativ hochwertige Ferngläser und Vogel- sowie Artenkunde Bücher bekommen. Der Fahrer hat sich sehr gut mit Ibrahim verständigt und wann immer wir wollten gehalten oder selbst etwas erspäht. Der Kumana NP ist im Gegensatz zu dem Yala außerdem angenehm leer sodass wir außer unseren nur einem weiteren Jeep auf dieser Safari begegnet sind. Diese Safari und der Kumana NP sind absolut Empfehlenswert!! (Angehängte Fotos sind qualitativ leider nicht hochwertig, da es Screenshots aus verschiedenen Videos sind - weiß leider nicht wie man hier Videos hochlädt)

Whilst we didn't go on any of the tours, we bought some spices and face masks in the shop. These are reasonably priced and nicely packaged and hopefully some of the proceeds go to the local community. If we were in the area for longer, we would have certainly done a cookery course.

Avant la balade sur le lagon, le guide nous a emmené voir des crocodiles en bord de rivière. Nous avons ensuite fait la balade en barque sur le lagon où nous avons vu plein d'éléphants dont certains qui traversaient la lagon, de nombreux oiseaux et un crocodile. Notre guide était super sympa et il reconnaissait tous les animaux de très, très loin. On recommande vivement Ecowave pour le lagoon safari !

Nous avons suivi un cours de cuisine, et nous avons adoré !
L'équipe est pédagogue et les relations humaines ont été fantastiques.
Nous étions un groupe avec des enfants de 12 à 17 ans : tout le monde a trouvé génial ... et s'est régalé !

Vi havde et 2 timers madlavningskursus med Ibrahim, hvor vi lærte at lave de mest typiske srilankanske retter. Gode friske råvarer, venlig kok og en stor oplevelse.
Vi lærte at lave 8 retter, som vi med stor succes har afprøvet herhjemme.

Abbiamo fatto con Ecowave il safari al Parco Nazionale di Kumana. Esperienza davvero memorabile. Il parco in sé è bellisimo, fitta boscaglia che si apre all'improvviso su grandi aree umide piene di vegetazione acquatica e una quantità incredibile di grandi uccelli variopinti. Abbiamo visto diversi coccodrilli, innumerevoli buoi d'acqua, cervi, samba, cinghiali selvatici, diversi elefanti - uno si è fermato a brucare le foglie di un albero praticamente davanti alla nostra jeep - e persino due orsi. Le nostre guide Ecowave sono state eccezionali. Il loro entusiasmo ad ogni avvistamento era contagioso e ha contribuito a godere della bellezza del posto. Il pranzo è stato organizzato presso una famiglia del villaggio di Panama - Ecowave contribuisce infatti in vario modo allo sviluppo della comunità locale ed è supportato da diverse fondazioni ed enti di cooperazione italiani.

Hello, we are 5 Germans and would like to do a Safari tour from Arugam Bay to Yala National park. Is this possible for you? As we have to go back to Galle we were thinking about if you could drop us at the South Entrance (Tissa) after the Safari?

Hi, Thank you for contacting Ecowave for Safari. We do safari excursions to Kumana National park (Yala East) but unfortunately we can't access Yala National park (South entrance) through Kumana. They are two separate national parks for administrative purposes and operations. If you are interested Ecowave can arrange Kumana jeep safari Excursion that includes village lunch and sight seeing in Panama village too. Thanks
