We did a full day of tours with AVA. The morning we did The Numbers rafting. We had a great time. Everyone at the shop was very helpful and friendly. We had Zach Hubbard as a guide for rafting. Zach was great. He has been doing this for years and you could tell he had a lot of experience on the river.
Next we did the Via Ferrata. WOW! So awesome. One of the best and most exhilarating experiences we have done. Would recommend to anyone. Caveat....Don't do this if you don't like heights. We had Jess and Julian for our guides. Totally awesome guides. They were so good. So great to have guides that are friendly and easy to get along with for 2+ hours. You could tell they love what they are doing!
5 stars to AVA. Huge thanks to Zach, Jess and Julian for making our experience so great. Would definitely recommend and would come back again.

As a transplanted Colorado native, I wanted to bring my family to the mountains to see and experience the Rockies. I was looking for a rafting company with well-experienced rafting guides. The AVA Browns Canyon Sizzle was just the experience we needed. The organization of the AVA rafting guides is excellent. The drop-in point was the best I've experienced...very easy to get the raft in the water. Our rafting guide Katie was exceptional in every way. Friendly, informative, and highly skilled. She was able to answer all our questions about the area we traveled through. Katie demonstrated expert knowledge of the river and she coached us through the rapids with calm command..."FORWARD 1"! :-) We braved rapids named Zoom Flume, Pinball, Widow Maker (deftly escaping the toilet bowl), The Numbers, and Staircase among several others. The photos taken by their pro were outstanding. Also thanks to Katie for getting us in the perfect position for the shots. As we watched other rafting companies get stuck through several sets of rapids we learned what it means to "watch the show NOT be the show"!! So much fun.
The counter staff are friendly. I called them several times to check on the river and climate conditions, discussing our best options for gear to bring, and directions to the outpost. All of the guide staff are outdoor enthusiasts. They know Colorado weather and the quickly changing water levels affecting the rapids. They demonstrated that they knew how to keep everyone safe. We took the full day and highly recommend it!

Fantastic! Amazing! Unforgettable! The experience is well planned. Great safety measures to asure you an unforgettable exciting memory. Our Guide Zach Coffin is funny, kind, respectful and very experienced. We enjoyed 9 miles of rafting class 2-4. You will enjoy a nice hot chocolate after the journey and have the opportunity to get a nice shirt or souvenir. Highly recommended! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
We also went zip lining. Ernie and Jess are fantastic guides. Very careful with the safety protocols. I had a little panic attack right before trying my very first zip line. They were very careful and respectful. No pressure at all! After a couple of minutes I was ready to take the challenge and I definitely have no regrets. There is not a company out there in Colorado that cares this much about the experience of their customer. We did the Via Ferrate with the amazing Jessi and Cody. These two made our experience incredible. Their professionalism and humor turned this into one of my favorite adventures. I had my 12-year-old son with me and felt 100% safe and taken care of the entire time.
Everyone has to listen to this!!! If you are going to do river rafting, you have to do the overnight with AVA! This is an experience of a lifetime. The entire team, from the Boss Boss (Duke) to Todd to Heather to our amazing guides Brighton and Will, made this a father and son trip that will never be forgotten. The day before the trip, they overcame several obstacles to ensure that we could take this trip. I run a company, Strong Fitness, in Dallas, and their care for the customers matches my own, which is hard to do!
I would trust this company with all my trips on the mountain or river in Buena Vista, CO. We are going back with more friends and family if they will have us.

Our trip down the river was AMAZING! Our guide (Katie) was so experienced and took the time point out special sites and tell historic stories about the area. The entire staff was super positive, funny and energetic. We always felt safe and informed. The Outpost was comfortable and provided everything we needed. Thank you AVA!

Was very organized organization. When we arrived got us fitted for gear then got on bus where all instructors were given. Nate was out guide and did a great job telling the boat what to do. Had a fun trip! I would reccomend . We did the class 4 -want to come back to do earlier in summer with higher waters !

This was my family’s first white water rafting trip. We had such an amazing time! Ryan aka Fence was our guide. He was very knowledgeable and fun! We would definitely book another trip with AVA rafting!

What started out as an amazing day was ruined in the end by an uninformed attendant who didn't understand customer satisfaction and had no empathy for the delays caused by a mistake her company made.
Our original reservation was made on line. We chose to do a 1/2 browns canyon raft plus (+) the via ferrata experience. We were given the option to receive a discount if we paid for everything prior our arrival. Additionally we chose to include the photo package as part of our purchase.
On the night prior to our event we received a phone call from the company telling us that the state inspectors had not completed the inspection on the Via Ferrata so it would not be available. We were offered the rock climbing activity as a substitution and were informed that because each ticket was $25.00 less than what had been selected we would be credited the difference upon arrival.
When we arrived, we asked about the refund and were informed that the staff had to contact the owner. We proceeded with the morning and had a great time rock climbing with our belayer-- TJ. He was patient, informative and extremely helpful in assisting us. Our lunch was disappointing. We had been told that it would be made on site and would be served warm. Instead, we received pre made wraps with condiments that consisted of items that some family members can't eat and didn't come close to the advertised meal option. Nevertheless, the rock climbing with TJ was a good time.
Our white water rafting couldn't have gone any better. Our guide's name was Sebastian. He and the other guides kept the entire bus load of attendees laughing during the instructions and ride to the river. Sebastian had a vast knowledge of the river and its surroundings. As a guide, he was instrumental in making our adventure fun, exciting and informative. It was truly was of the best adventures we've ever had.
When we returned, we once again asked about our refund, not that we needed it right away but we wanted to apply it to our guides gratuity. No-one at the front counter could provide an answer. They kept saying that they had to refer to the manager on duty. We waited and waited. We couldn't understand the difficulty in the request-- the activity we got was $25.00 per person less than what we paid for. Simple math-- multiply it by the four people and we should have a $100 credit. The front clerk apologized for our delay and reluctantly summoned the manager again. As she walked out she emphatically said, "We don't owe you a refund. The rock climbing was more expensive than the Via Ferrata but we adjusted the price..."
"I think you're incorrect. We paid for a more expensive item and was told we would receive a refund so that's what we're entitled to."
After several back and forth's, I asked her to pull our original invoice and verify it to what was advertised on their own website which substantiated my original statement. We paid for more and received less...
A short time later the manager walked back out and said, "The sales department has taken care of it. They'll issue the refund. Have a good day..."
In the end, her attitude and demeanor ruined what was an amazing day. This should not diminish the efforts of the guides. In the end, know what you're paying for. Clarify the costs and enjoy the day. It's unfortunate that the entire review must encompass the totality of the day. Their customer facing employees deserve a 5-star. The manager and her inability to solve issues deserves a 1-star.

Our bachelorette crew had the absolute best time zip lining today! TJ and Spencer made the experience so much fun and we’re very informative! We would 100% recommend going here!
