I was excited to visit the Bushnell to see Hamilton. Parking was convenient - right across the street and free. The theater lobby was clean and offered a snack bar and multiple bars. Rest rooms were clean. Staff was friendly. That's the upside.
Unfortunately, I have lots to say on the negatives. Staff does not enforce normal theater seating protocols such as not immediately seating late patrons.
I entered half hour early and an usher showed me to my seat. 5 minutes into the performance, the usher used a flashlight to seat a party directly in front of me. I thought that was disruptive until she came back a few minutes later to unseat them as she'd escorted them to the wrong seats. So, 7 minutes into the show, I've had 2 interruptions directly in front of me, resulting in my not being able to see or hear the show. The usher then seated the correct party in front of me a few minutes later. The party was a couple with 2 kids. They sat, then got up and switched seats, then put kids on their laps. 20 minutes into the show, I still haven't seen or heard a word of it. Why on earth aren't late patrons told they'll need to wait to be seated?
Patrons regularly got up for the bathroom and for bar runs throughout the course of the show - I can honestly say there are less disruptions in my local movie theater. Food and drink are allowed into the theater, and after intermission, I had to hear someone repeatedly crinkling a snack bag. Patrons on both sides of me were regularly on their phones, with no effort to reduce the brightness of their phones.
At no point did any usher intervene to change any of this incredibly rude behavior. I will stick to seeing my shows on Broadway now, where there is respect for performers and patrons.
I was in the orchestra and wouldn't recommend sitting there. The sound system at the Bushnell isn't crisp and I had a very hard time understanding what the actors were saying and singing.
I had been so excited to finally see Hamilton for the first time, but this was a terrible experience and a complete waste of money. The Bushnell is a beautiful and convenient venue with so much potential, but I won't be back.

We attended the performance of Hamilton at the theater today. Its hard to separate our experience at the theater from the performance itself. But the Staff were very accommodating ( we did have a digital ticket issue which they fixed very promptly) The facilities are fine. Parking was free and right across the street. The restaurant we had lunch at was nice and right down the street (walking distance). So the theater experience was great. But the show was even better. And prices are much better than Boston or NY. Even though it was a three hour drive for us, we'd go again if they offered a show we wanted to see.

I have wanted to write this review regarding my experience at The Bushnell on Saturday June 25, 2022 all week but just finding the time now. My husband and I went to The Bushnell last Saturday night to see the claimed Broadway show Hamilton. While I’m sure the show was very good I had trouble concentrating on the show as it unbearably stifling hot in the mezzanine section and at one point I thought I may pass out. For the amount that each ticket cost, $250, I felt that we should have had an exceedingly better experience than we did. I know we weren’t the only ones to feel this way as during our departure from the theater many complaints could be overheard. I have attended shows in the past and never had an experience like this. Again for the price that was paid it should have been a pleasurable time we had instead it was honestly miserable and we won’t be back.

I've been to theaters all over the world and nothing compares to the Bushnell. Unfortunately this is not a complement. The Bushnell, though beautiful with it's art deco interior, is just awful. We can live with the way to big for a Broadway theater issue. However the sound is something akin to watching a play in the grand canyon. It's very hard to hear the dialog and the music just clanks around the hard suffices of the walls of the giant theater. Save your money and see a show at the Shubert in New Haven of the Palace Theater in Waterbury. I prefer going to NYC where Broadway shows are in Broadway theaters, not a giant bomb shelter pretending to be a theater. Hartford deserves a better theater than this. Unfortunately we have the Bushnell.
(I've seen 10 or more shows at the Bushnell over the years so it's not just a one time issue)

Wonderful evening back at the theater! So nice to know that they are taking all the precautions needed to allow safe attendance to the shows. ‘Bands visit’ was a wonderful show with moving songs and heartfelt performances. Interesting cultural exchange that illuminated what is happening around the corner in other parts of the world. BIG shout out to Todd! The theater manager for talking with us and providing so many informative places to see and eat in the city! He is a wealth of info for the production, theater and all about town interests! He made our day and night out a special one and we had a much more enriching experience because of his friendliness and personable nature. Thanks so much to Todd and the Bushnell theater!

There is not a bad seat in the Mortensen Hall here. We went to see the 25th anniversary Farewell Tour of RENT and was not disappointed. We were very glad this tour kept the musical in its original '90s setting and did not try to update it. Actors were top notch and were truly entertaining during their return to live theater due to the pandemic.

The Bushnell has two major theaters and conference facilities. I have been to both theaters and have used the conference space. I would recommend all aspects of this facility. They do a wide array of shows, lectures, music and other artistic events. Their Broadway series is excellent. They have a small cafe on site and a number of bars but their refreshments can be quite expensive. I would highly recommend the Bushnell.

Love seeing shows here because it’s not too far from home and there is free parking across the street. Not a bad seat in the house

My wife and I were in Hartford this weekend to see the Banff Mountain Film Festival. The Bushnell is a great place to see a show. There is not a bad seat in the house. Plenty of room to mingle before the show, during admission, and after the show. Cash bar is available.

Do you know any thing at all about balcony or mezzanine seats that you can share? I want to take my twin 6year old grandbabies to the Lion King but can't afford the more expensive seats. Thank You.

I sit in the front mexzanine section. The balcony seats might be difficult for young children to see, but mezzanine is not bad. You are a but higher up, so they will see everything. The Bushnell is a great experience!

Unfortunately you will take the risk of being too distant to see Facial features etc.
Take into consideration the interest span of your grandkids .. maybe preview the show at home a few times !
Enjoy your lovely family and outing together!

I'd park right across the street. In a crowded day, park in the far side of the lot, nose out, and exit in the opposite side. If not crowded, then park as close as possible, still nose out.
If money's not an issue, then the valet guys are good.
