This temple is the last human construction on the west side of India. It is just next to the sea. You get sense of calmness and gets relaxed when here. Also the views are amazing.

Koteshwar temple is approx. 150 kms from Bhuj - the capital of kutch district.
It is on the shore of arabian sea and also a last motorable point, beyond this lies the sir creek area which is marshland and pakistan international border.
Temple is on little higher side and gives better view of arabian sea. Many stories are associated how original linga came into existence. Temple face west side and likely facing Indus or sindhu river. We had a peaceful darshan of lord shiva.
Narayan sarovar - the holy lake as per hinduism is just 2 kms before Koteshwar temple.
Mata no madh - temple is also on the way from bhuj to koteshwar.
Different terrain and vegetation in this part is a must sought experience.

The story of Koteshwar begins with Ravana, who won a boon from Lord Shiva for an outstanding display of piety. This boon was the gift of a Shiva linga of great spiritual power, but which Ravana, in his arrogant haste, accidentally dropped and it fell to earth at Koteshwar. To punish Ravana for his carelessness, the linga turned into a thousand identical copies (some versions of the story say ten thousand, some a million; suffice to say it was quite a lot.) Unable to distinguish the original, Ravana grabbed one and departed, leaving the original one here, around which Koteshwar Temple was built.

Koteshwar is the last point that common people can visit on tip of western part of India. It is more than 150 km from Bhuj city. Road conditions are bit ok. Some places you will feel rough road. Koteshwar temple is there for devotion. Own vehicle is preferable to visit this place.

The Koteshwar Mahadev Temple is a beautiful temple in the area of Kutch near Narayan Sarovar. It is quite a distance from the White Rann. The roads are good except for some small patch of road of about 10 kilometer. It needs 8-10 hours to visit the temple from tent city of Rann of Kutch.

Visited this ancient temple in the evening just before sunset, its such a wonderful experience to watch the sunset from the temple courtyard. I felt it very unusual and curious to discover that the temple is facing west. My curiosity was satisfied by the temple pandith as per him it was facing the Sindhu or Indus river which was flowing. Its a known fact that Indus changed course after a massive earthquake. There are also more legends associated with the temple visit to learn about them

This Koteshwar Mahadev temple in Kutch is beautiful place at very end of the state with sea side. Very nice peaceful place to spend time for 2-3 hours.

Folklore or Mythology dates this temple back to Tretha yuh the times of Sri Ram and Ravan. Its believed that Ravan had established the Shiv ling in this temple. Very convenient to reach the vehicle parking is almost at the entrance of the temple. The approach road from Bhuj is in a very good condition.
