We found this park by accident when we were looking for a park to visit during the holiday weekend, and we both fell in love with it immediately. It's much larger than it looks at the onset (1800 acres) and includes a lake, hiking/walking trails, tennis courts, a kids' area, and plenty of benches and picnic tables. There's also plenty of parking, which is great, as not all parks have sufficient parking. The park is also incredibly clean, which we appreciated. This park wasn't as busy as we thought it would, given the gorgeous weather outside, so I wonder if this park isn't well-known outside of the Meriden area. The park is surrounded by the Hanging Mountains and would be beautiful in the autumn when the leaves are changing. There are a lot of geese that hang out by the lake, so be careful of bird poop.

Hubbard Park is a nice place to relax on a bench and read or walk around the water. We did not hike up to the tower but could see it from the park. We stopped here on our way to another destination in Connecticut. There is plenty of space to spread out.

Hubbard Park is an amazing place to visit with many opportunities. Maybe you want to bring your kids to play on the playground full of many fun activities. Maybe your dog needs to enjoy the outdoors. There is an amazing walking trail on it that is sure to make your dog happy. Take a drive up to the Famous Castle Craig and enjoy the view. In hubbard park there is an amazing inground pool you can take a dip in (of course after COVID). Those are just some of the amazing opportunities you have when going there. I have never had a bad visit here.

We walked the white trail and then the orange trail to the castle. The white trail was easy, the orange a bit challenging. The view from the top was beautiful.

Besides being a beautiful park with wildlife, a pond, walkways, and shelters, there is the plus of two sets of dinosaur tracks, just next to the main road and beside the large pond.

The hike to castle Craig is relatively easy with a steep hike across loose stones at the end .Follow the white square on trees .There is no water/restroom facilities on top.The castle can be accesed by car through a properly laid road.The view from top of castle is great.

When you pull into the park, head to the smaller parking lot to the left for the trail head. The easiest way to NOT get lost hiking up to Castle Craig is to follow the trail with the white rectangle markings on the trees. Anyone who exercises or is active should be able to do the hike; even though it gets steep at the end, the steep part is the shortest part. The view from the top is well worth the exertion of getting there. The noise of the highway disappears as you get higher up and is replaced with lovely birdsong. Definitely bring some water. NOTE: On July 4th, the police close off Castle Craig and you cannot hike (or drive) all the way to the very top, because that's where they set up the fireworks for Meriden. There is a look-out just below it where you can get excellent views though (where the photo in the March 2019 review below was taken from).

Great place for fishing, hiking and nice playground. Beautiful views from Castle Craig. A bit loud as it is next to I691.

Visited Hubbard Park in June. Very nice view up to Castle Craig, very nice lake with ducks and geese to feed. Hike 3 miles up to Castle Craig, very cool. I suggest avoiding the Daffodil Festival weekend. It's become dominated by corporate interests instead of crafty booths and some of the corporate vendors were rude. Much more peaceful visiting when it was not Daffodil Festival weekend.
