“辉煌的经历，一定要来这”

我非常喜欢古书，所以这个图书馆是我必去的地方，它没有让我失望！这里是书籍的天堂，一切都维护得很好，很漂亮里面珍藏的古腾堡圣经很棒！这座建筑物的外部并不像传统的图书馆，你可以花点时间在图书馆里独自漫步，或是在导游的带领下沉浸其中。

Interesting and clever architecture, worth seeing inside the library

Really worth a look inside this building to see all the rate manuscripts and books from floor to ceiling. The architecture of the building and the ingenious approach to keeping the books safe from light damage is worth reading about

Stunning Mid-Century Modern building doesn't disappoint!

As an architecture enthusiast, I found this Mid-Century Modern building as stunning as I had seen in photos, both inside and out!! The exterior of Vermont marble, granite, bronze, and glass is innovative and has stood the test of time 60 years later. And inside the glass tower of books--the stacks holding the University's rare books and literary manuscripts collection is amazing!! Be sure to go up to the mezzanine and walk all the way around. And don't forget to take in whatever exhibition is on display on the ground and mezzanine levels. There is always something on exhibit that will pique your interest!

Astoundingly Beautiful

The building itself is a work of art, housing one of the largest collections of rare books. The collection occupies the e center of the structure behind walls of glass. The are varied exhibition in the public outer area, including a Guttenberg Bible. You'll be wowed by the translucent panels surrounding the building.

We were really impressed with the building. It’s interesting and so different from all the other buildings. The sunlight coming through the stone is beautiful. My eight year old thought the old books on display were cool. I wish you could see more of the inside of some of the books. Unless we missed it, you really can’t at all. Digital versions on screens would be helpful.

Building impressive, exhibits good but too few for a destination visit

We literally drove an hour to see this and spent less than that looking at the two floors that were open to the public. The building is impressive in the midst of such historic structures and we could see through the glass the rare books, but it was a tad disappointing for a person who lives to read and visits libraries around the world.

Worth the visit

This place is amazing. Worth visiting if your in to history and books. My son and I took our time going around and reading the book cases. The light was low to protect all the aging books. If your a Yale student and needing to research your allowed to see them in person and touch them.

Dieses weltweit grösste Archiv seltener Bücher und Manuskripte ist wirklich unglaublich !

In einem sechsstöckigem Turm, umgeben von einem fensterlosen, rechteckigen Bau aus Vermonter Danby-Marmor befindet sich eine Kollektion einzigartiger und unersetzlicher Schätze aus der gesamten Historie des Buchdrucks, von Drucken aus dem 16. Jahrhundert bis hin zur Gutenberg-Bibel.

Die 3 cm dicken Marmorpaneele schützen die unersetzlichen Werke vor direktem Tageslicht, wobei sie indirektes Licht zulassen.

Der Anblick beim Betreten des Gebäudes (Zutritt kostenlos) ist atemberaubend - sicher auch für alle, die keine direkten Buchliebhaber sind.

A rare treat!

If you have any interest in history or architecture don’t miss the Beinecke! The area open to the public has ancient maps that are very thought-provoking. Gutenberg Bibles are on display along with two copies of Audubon folio books with detailed bird renderings. The building itself, opened in 1963, is significant for its unusual construction. If you come on a sunny day you can see light shining through the Vermont marble panels, which provide a warm, dramatic light while protecting the valuable books and maps. It’s free so you can stay as long or as little as you like.
