This hike is a great little one and my favorite around! You can just hike up to lions head and turn around or continue on the AT, which runs through this, to make you to Bear Mt. and Sages Ravine. Great spot!

We left early Saturday morning and took Undermountain Trail to Paradise Lane Trail to Bear Mountain. There was a bit of rock scrambling the closer we got to the top. It's a very popular place to hike and on the weekends the rock pile at the top of Bear Mountain is usually full of people. The views are amazing. We left Bear Mountain and headed south on the Appalachian Trail to Lion's Head. Also an amazing view with fewer people. We left Lions Head and continued on the Appalachian Trail to the parking area on Rt 41. Roughly 9 miles. Lions Head can be accessed from Bunker Hill Trail also.

We were staying for two nights in Salisbury and wanted to do some walking. This hike starts just out of town. It's fairly strenuous. Experienced walkers won't have a problem but anyone who's not so steady on their feet will struggle. It's fairly steep so hard work. Coming down you have to watch your step. We took a picnic which we ate at the top. Beautiful view. Very peaceful and well worth the effort. The hike is through a wood so you don't get a view until your at the top which makes it more special.

Just visiting for a wedding, and it is a great place to experience. Catered food, cozy, small town. Just a wonderful experience.

Hat sich auf jeden gelohnt.

We enjoyed hiking the Lion's Head trail with the boys. If you can make it to the top - less than an hour walk - the views are stunning. Once in Salisbury visit the shops

Hiked up Lion's Head on Saturday with my wife, daughter (age 7) and son (age 5). Great hike for a family with younger children. It's about 2 miles round trip from the hiker parking lot. Spectacular view from the "summit". Couple of fairly steep sections which need a little patience with kids--particularly on the way down. Can't miss this hike if you're in the Lakeville/Salisbury area.

My favorite hike in CT, and one of my favorites anywhere. The view is spectacular, and often you will have it all to yourself.

You must know how to find this place. Drive up the hill from Salisbury, CT hanging to the left and find a marked parking area. Take the trial into the woods and then up some rather steep and rocky areas. Be careful to watch the signs at a trial intersection where the Appalachian Trail slips off to the right. Keep going up and then attack a rocky cliff face to find the view. This final effort is steep but does not require ropes etc, just careful hanging onto tree trunks as you balance on rocks. The view is wonderful for such a relatively short yet steep hike.

My friend and I decided to hike to Bear mountain summit via Lion's head. The hike will get the heart pumping at the beginning but the view from Lion's Head summit makes it worthwhile. From there we took AT (Appalachian trail) to Bear mountain summit. Most of the hike is pretty easy if you are in good shape. The hike seems to be quite popular among hikers with dogs. The hike was about 8.48 miles and we managed to finish it in 5 hrs. It can easily be done in 4 hrs by keeping a good pace.
