A beautiful fall day in Connecticut and no idea where to spend it. A friend suggests White Silo Farm & Winery. We call and they have wine, food, and allow dogs outside. Win, win, and win. Everyone was very friendly and knowledgeable with helping us decide on which wines to taste and what to order for snacks. We enjoyed the outdoor seating in the sunshine with our dogs amid the beautiful scenery and with some wine and treats.

This place is relaxed with a pretty view and perfect for a relaxing day in good company. Their red sparkling raspberry wine is really good. Worth a visit if you are in the area!

My husband and I just arrive in Sherman for 4 months and booked the Pizza Sunday event to White Silo after reading all the glowing reviews on trip advisor. The bar was set high but the entire experience exceeded all our expectations! It helped that it was a gloriously sunny spring day but couple that with an incredible setting, fabulous pizza, great rhubarb wine and Dan Sawyer on the guitar and you have an 11! He brought me to tears of JOY! We could not have asked for a better way to spend the afternoon. We will definitely return over and over!

I've visited the Silo many times. It's 2 minutes from downtown Sherman and let's to step back a moment as you enter the farm and its old barn to be surprised with a state-of-the-art tasting room and art gallery. A couple of times a year we go to meet the artists which is always a delight along with tasting some of their new wine parings. On a nice days, enjoying their outside tables and a pitcher of Sangria can really set the mood! Just a nice stop when your 90 minutes north of the city.

Our original goal with the groupon was to go during the Fall Foliage season. Too many conflicts and a few date changes and we finally made it in December. The groupon was for a two hour visit which is way longer than any wine tasting that we have done in the past. Well, between a gourmet box lunch, wine tasting and a one hour tour of the property, it was at least two hours. Our four samples were not a large as other wineries, but they added one at the end and another at the end of the tour. Very interesting tour and my companion was very interested in the 17 foot Begium tomato plants that was discussed. Well, at the end of the tour; we met "Eric the Tomato Man". During a very informative chat with him, my friend got his card and a promise for some Belgium tomato seeds in late February. Even though we live almost two hours from Sherman, we may be back next summer.

Awesome experience! We got the Groupon for the tasting, tour, and lunch. We have a baby / life is crazy, etc. so we actually had to cancel and reschedule multiple times ... which they were always so nice and accommodating about (thank you!). When we finally made it there, we were so impressed by everything! The tasting room is adorable and cozy and the staff is so pleasant and knowledgeable. The wines were great — we weren’t too familiar with fruit wines, but they were excellent!!! The tasting included a generous amount of wine plus a glass and chocolates! I didn’t know what to expect from the lunch but it was AMAZING and you got so much full sandwich, nuts, cheese, quinoa salad and a dessert!). I saw that they had gluten free and veg options, too. The tour was great. Our guide was so knowledgeable and even though I’ve been to a few other wineries I feel like we learned the most about the process here. She was clearly passionate about the winery — the tour was detailed, descriptive and fun! My only regret is that we didn’t come during summer to enjoy the outdoor terrace and see everything growing! That just means we will have to come back. Overall, this tour is so worth the money! You get so much and it’s a great experience!

We visited for a wine tasting, tour and lunch.The wine tasting had us pick 4 from a list of offerings to sample plus a sangria. The tour was very interesting but too long, a little too much detail, sort of felt like we were getting new-hire training rather than a tour. Plan to be outdoors for 45 minutes of the tour, if its a cold day, dress accordingly!! White Silo is a family winery and all processing is done by hand, sort of makes each bottle seem like something special. The box lunch was actually very good and you get to keep your wine glass! We will return, signed up for the newsletter to be alerted about the harvest festivals as they sound like they are fun.

What a great time we had at this wine tasting & tour. Our day started with a box lunch which was actually quite tasty. They served us a turkey sandwich on Seven Grain with their amazing White Silo Mustard (so good), served with a Quinoa Salad (amazing flavor), mini cheese plate, mixed nuts and a Chocolate Turtle Bar. At first I thought the box lunch was not going to be good but it was GREAT! next we went on a tour of the winery and although it was a bit cold it was not bad. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the winery and it’s history’s had plenty great stories to keep the tour fun and lively. We finally got a tour of their new wine making facility where we were able to sample a wine they were in the procedure making.
Last but not least was the wine tasting which was good, as we tasted the bartender was able to explain the complexities of the wine and suggest what food and chocolate pairings would be best with the wine we were tasting. I suggest you try their cheese board with the wine, it was really good and made the wine even more enjoyable (see pic). Our tour guide explained how they hold several wine and food festivals throughout the year; we will defend back to take part in them. Overall we truly enjoyed the winery and will be back but definitely in warmer weather.

We enjoyed the tasting even though I'm not a big fan of the sweet wine blends
I found the whites and the one red offering enjoyable.
The apple cider - thumbs up.
We also received the box lunch which was fresh and very tasty with a nice turkey sandwich that had a spread of their home made mustard with a side of cheese and nuts.Well done !
However the best part was the time we spent with Tara who gave a walk through the vineyard and wine making possess.
She was pleasant, knowledgeable and friendly.
it was a pleasure to spend the hour on the facilities tour.
The views are beautiful !!
Highly recommended for an afternoon in the country.
We will be back !!!!

White Silo Winery was a wonderful surprise in Litchfield county. The tasting room was busy with wine enthusiasts on a sunny October Sunday. Staff was friendly and helpful. Lots of great indoor seating on the bottom floor of the barn. Plenty of tables outside to sip wine while overlooking the vineyard. The Upland Pastures White dry Cayuga wine was one of the very best whites we’ve had in Connecticut. That’s if you like dry, clean, crispy and earthy wines.
Only downside to the experience was the gnats hanging over our table outside.
