I had low expectations, but I underestimated this museum. Excellent depth of collections, enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers, hands-on interaction with some items, and a friendly atmosphere.

First, understand this museum is run by enthusiastic volunteers. They are engaged and know a ton about the collection because they aren’t just docents - they are actively maintaining and repairing and restoring the items they are telling you about! It took us a few minutes to find someone to take our money - but then we got a personal tour that helped us learn more than we’d expected! Clearly these folks love the subject and it shows!

Next, it’s a privately funded collection which means it’s a bit of a hodge podge of stuff. There’s a LOT to sort through, some common and some very rare. Go with an open, curious mind.

We ended up spending almost three hours with no complaints of boredom from either teen!

I'm giving this a terrible review because I was disappointed that they were not open. I checked the website to make sure they were open due to the pandemic, which assured me the hours and COVID protocol. We drove quite a distance to see this museum on a rainy day, and they were closed. It would be appreciated for this to be updated on their website if they are not open.
This was something that my husband and I were very interested in seeing, and made plans around the days this museum was open to travel.

A well done museum. Enthusiastic docents that are very knowledgeable. I was fortunate to See a hands on display of Direct Current and Alternating Current, a vintage juke box, and a player piano. I spent about one hour there. If you have an interest in the history of radios and electronics, it’s worth a stop.

You can expect to be WOWED by this collection. Our 10 yr old grandson said it was Great! Saw technology’s development - the membership works hard to display and we time traveled an hour and a half of our lifetime(60+ yrs).
Definitely will return.Thank You John, Mark for explicit explanations and demos. Thank You Members for Caring!!!!!!!

Can’t say anything even close to bad about this place. It is a gem. Amazing staff so knowledgeable and wants you to enjoy and experience all of the stuff they have to show and know. One of the best museums in the state. Really come out to check it out. You will not be disappointed.

This was a very interesting museum to visit. John Ellsworth is the director he takes people on a tour. This is a great learning experience. They have other volunteers who also take you on tours. The museum has teaching for children and swap meets. I found this very interesting and educational place. I will come back again.

Definitely go on the guided tour--lots of info, especially about very old and/or local stuff that you wouldn't know from just looking at the objects. Shows a wide range of radio and audio/video equipment from the 19th century through today.

The admission cost is $10 per person and there’s a donation box. They are volunteers and have fund raisers to help out with cost of things. Our tour guide Mark was very informative. We got a whole tour of the phones ranging from the 1800’s to present. There’s a wide range of items there on display starting from televisions, telephones, radios, clocks, jukeboxes, computers, microphones and so on. If your in the area or are interested in communication you really should stop by to see it. It’s well worth your time!!!!

Follow the history of communications dating back to the 1800s with displays of development of telegraphs, typewriters, radios, computers and TVs. Some hands on and a radio broadcast studio. Adults will love it and children ages 8 and above will learn things they will not see anywhere else.

A definite walk back in time. If you are of a certain age, you will have fun remembering all the old radio's and other tech equipment in their collection. We took our 7 year old granddaughter to visit, and there was enough interesting items for her to interact with. She enjoyed the juke box, but especially loved being able to actually use an old telephone switch board, and try her hand at Morse Code. While she was interested in their Tesla coil demonstration, their larger one made a loud noise that made her a little nervous, so a volunteer kindly took us to their 1930's Sound studio that was sound proofed. She thoroughly enjoyed creating radio era sound effects and listening to old records. And another hit was the opportunity to play a Theremin. If you are looking for a place to take your grand kids, this small museum is worth a visit.
