The reservoir is located just north of town and has a play area and fields for children. There is a gradually inclining paved path up the side of the huge earthen mound that contains the reservoir and continues on at the top for hikers and runners. A plaque at the bottom of the path indicates that it was dedicated as recently as 2006. An information kiosk notes that the reservoir is 55 feet deep and holds 317 million gallons of water. The recreational aspects of this property appear to be greatly appreciated and utilized by town folks. Once reaching the top, one is impressed by the cobalt blue water that contrasts with a bright blue sky. Eagles and seagulls soar overhead. A very pleasant outing.

This is a very pleasant public area around the reservoir mostly for recreation and walking. There is easy parking, porta-potties, relaxing atmosphere and a lot of interesting nature, mostly birds. The area is connected to William M. Redd, Jr. Park to the north and we combined the walk around the reservoir with venturing into neighboring trails. Newark Reservoir Path Trail itself is about 1.5 mile paves and easy.

Our first visit on an unseasonably warm sunny day in February. Almost every parking space was taken. Portable potties (2) available in excellent condition. Uphill distance was measured by a man with a measuring device - hence 800 meters - a winding wide path to the reservoir. From that elevation one can see the Delaware Memorial Bridge 14 miles away. Worth a visit.

This is a great park on a nice day. Great for walking in a different setting. There is an accessible playground that the kids love. Great place to meet up with friends!

This is a beautiful walk in Newark Delaware. We used to live nearby and when they built the reservoir, they also carved out a beautiful forested trail from our development through to the reservoir. Abundant birds, including migrating seabirds like cormorants. It has a mile-marked walking trail around the reservoir. So relaxing.

It is a nice walk. When you reach up it is very peaceful to walk. The only thing is that you do have to walk up to reach the reservoir.

What a great place to walk, run or bike alone or with your family. It’s so peaceful high above the surrounding area. Wildlife is plentiful, and now there’s a playground at the bottom of the hill. Only down fall is parking is limited but just go early

This is an outstanding place to walk and enjoy birds, nature and great views. There is a playground that accommodates children with physical challenges .

The Newark (DL) reservoir is just off Cleveland Ave and an easy walk or bike ride from the University.
After a fairly steep climb up the flank of the reservoir, there is a smooth, wide, paved path around this artificial lake. Fine for a jog, a ride, or a walk.
BUT, there is nothing else there, besides lovely sunsets over the pump house and an opportunity for a nice walk.

I enjoyed taking a walk for about one hour around the Newark Reservoir. Best of all, the attraction is free, and there is ample parking. It is also very clean. The body of water and the surrounding landscape of the city are really cool to check out. However, you should be aware that in the colder weather, you should definitely bundle up!

There are benches all around the reservoir.
Preston’s playground is ADA accessible and I believe restrooms are PLANNED
I have not looked at the playground and do not know if they are functional yet.
