We had a great fishing experiance in the Bay of Captiva Island, with Capt. Mark!
A lot of variaty of fish in the changing water environments that are available in the area.
Good host that knows a lot about fishing.
Tips and help to the unexperianced and great host to as all.

Captain Mark and mate Jenni are nice, friendly professionals. A friend of mine and I booked a tarpon charter for July 5, 2022. We were expecting an inshore artificial fishing experience based off of information from the website. We were fishing live bait a a few hundred yards off the beach in the gulf. Okay no problem. We kind of expect possible last minute changes etc. Neither of us are new to fishing. Many times throughout the course of the day we drove by small schools of tarpon looking for bigger schools. Again, we get it you pay for the Captains knowledge and years of experience and place your trust, confidence, and hard earned money in their hands to deliver an experience. Anyone who has fished for tarpon, is familiar with tarpon fishing, or has considered tarpon fishing has at least an idea of how difficult and challenging it really can be. Hence the draw. However after an 8 hour trip I literally held a fishing rod in my hands for less than 60 seconds total combined, no exaggeration, my friend and other client maybe 3 minutes total for an 8 hour day. Had one fish hooked for about 1 minute before it threw the hook. Okay so I've been on several fishing charters and fishing is fishing. I have no expectation of a fishing Captain creating fish where there are none or forcing fish to eat that just won't. Not catching fish, not getting a lot of action has little to nothing to do with my review. I've been with another fishing charter twice and had little to no action and would gladly book and fish with him again as well as recommend him. Because he CARES! He cares about the overall experience. Captain Mark Bennet and mate Jenni really demonstrated a complete lack of care as to whether we had a fun experience or not. The last stop we made and actually had lines in the water, 4 times total for the day did we even get a line in the water Captain Mark kept the rod in his hands. Presumably to get the bite get the hook set then hand the rod off to myself or friend. I'm sorry but I've fished my entire life and I'm not interested in reeling in a fish you cast to, you got the bite on, you set the hook on. Then possibly the worst of the slights was on the way in for the day and Captain Mark and Jenni openly discussing plans for the clients the following day just felt a little classless to me to be discussing your next set of clients when you have to have an idea at this point, and they certainly did have an idea, that we weren't all that satisfied ourselves. I paid 400.00 plus tip, which I'm now kicking myself for giving any tip, for less than 60 seconds of fishing. At no point did either Mark or Jenni make any attempt to acknowledge that it was a slow day, sorry there wasn't better action, anything whatsoever. As i said they were very professional. They had us in a boat "fishing" for 8 hours. They did their part and that was that. I can't understand how anyone in good conscious takes 800.00 plus tip for a fishing charter that resulted in less than 5 minutes of actual lines in the water time without offering an acknowledgement, an appology, a discount, a refusal of a tip even. I just think that basic human decency and caring about another's experience would have gone a long way towards how I feel about Captain Mark Bennet and mate. Will I book with th in the future? Definitely not. Would I recommend them? Absolutely not. Unless you want a very expensive, long site seeing tour less by two individuals that aren't concerned about your experience but only concerned with the cash in your wallet.

If you are going to leave another bad review be honest about it and include the details. It was a 6 hour trip, not 8.
I communicated with you guys the night before that the weather was bad and offered to cancel the trip and refund your deposit in full. It was blowing 10-15 SSE which makes Charlotte Harbor rough and unfishable for tarpon. It also makes the beach rough as well. It was your choice to go that day even though I advised against it. We hooked one tarpon, your buddy lost it. With the weather we had white caps, overcast and high wind we were lucky to see a tarpon much less hook one.
BTW: Leave my wife out of it. She did her job perfectly that day as she does every day.

I have fished my whole life and fished many charters. Mark’s knowledge and expertise stands out as one of the best I have ever met. The team work he and his wife Jenni is top notch. You will not regret choosing them!

3 of us fished with Mark and his mate/wife/photographer, Jenni. None of us had experience with tarpon, although we all all exprienced fishermen.
I've been on dozens of charters over the years, and Mark certainly stood out as one of the best I've had the pleasure to fish with. He knows his craft, and put all 3 of us on our first tarpon, and his wife got us some great photos as well:)
His equipment, knowledge, and easy manner had us all agreeing we've found our go-to tarpon guide for future trips.
Great job Mark, and Jenni, and we'll see you again in the future!

Truly a joy to fish with. He is professional and extremely knowledgeable. We fish a lot both by ourselves and with guides. I can say he loves what he does, passionate about tarpon, and is a true grinder. Do yourself a favor and come fish with Mark.

I took my son to Florida for a birthday/graduation gift. I lucked into the guide team of Mark & Jenni Bennett. I grew up in Hawai'i and have done my share of fishing on the big water. I have never laid into fish like the tarpon they put us on. From the moment the motor stopped, you could see the tarpon "showing", as they called it, porpoising out of the water, chasing bait fish, etc. A good guide puts you ON the fish - he can't make them bite. Mark & Jenni put you in the middle of a tarpon war zone. There were fish everywhere. My son caught his fish at 6:20 in the AM and he was so excited. We hooked 7 fish and landed 3 - all between 90 & 120 pounds. Man can those fish fight! I'm sold on Capt. Mark Bennett. Don't even question whether to look elsewhere. With 24 years of guiding under his belt, you'd be hard pressed to find a more knowledgeable, fun, master of his craft than Mark Bennett. Book today.

I had the opportunity to fish with Capt Mark and Jenni for two days around the end of June with three friends. I have fished with Mark occasionally over the past 15 or so years and every trip has been a great experience. This was no exception.
On the first day, we arrived at the dock bright and early. As usual the boat is spotless. The high quality rods and reels all with new high quality leaders and hooks, etc are all ready to go. We jump in the boat and we are soon underway to one of Mark's many honey holes. We arrived at the spot and as the sun begins to rise we start seeing tarpon. Soon after we are hooked up with our first fish and the fight is on with the largest tarpon of my fishing career. The image of the fish jumping will forever be burned into my mind. Truly amazing. Mark as usual did a great job coaching me on fighting the fish and after about 45 minutes we got it boat side. The fish was estimated in the 150-160 class. Just awesome. We went on to land a few more fish over the course of our two day trip all the while joking around and telling stories. My friends are talking about the experience as the best fishing trip yet. We have some fantastic pictures to document our success thanks to Jenni too.
Thanks Mark and Jenni for sharing your talent and expertise with the people you are fishing, and allowing them to share in and enjoy the adventure.

Ive fished with Mark and Jenny for 20 years, and I'm a guide in SC. Mark instilled my passion for tarpon 20 years ago, and I've never fished with someone who has more passion and works harder to catch fish than Mark and Jenny. They made my dream and my sons dreams come true yesterday and today by hooking 8 tarpon. My son laned 3. The biggest was 75 inches and 160ls. He caught another one over 120, and 80 lbs. I took some great go pro videos, and Jenny took the best tarpon action photos I've ever seen, for which I'm grateful. Thank you both for a memory of a lifetime!
