What a disappointment. We were in Orlando, wanted to have a Florida beach day. Daytona websites make it look inviting, clean and fun. We arrived, found a $30 parking spot right away and parked. We ended up being right near the Joe’s Pier. Moments later found ample public parking. I’d recommend checking that out before spending the flat rate. We walked through a small park with fountain which likely was very nice 30-40 years ago. We used a rough public restroom there and proceeded to the pier. Started looking around and immediately saw 4 individuals sitting on the beach passing around needles to shoot up. We then immediately walked down the boardwalk right next to the pier where all the shops and food vendors looked like they fit perfectly with what we had seen thus far. We walked to the end of that, and back up the street, seeing the rest of that area was more of the same, likely very like decades ago. We were back in our car leaving within an hour. We stopped at the race track and that small museum save our drive. We aren’t huge race fans but the old speed stuff was cool. They had a track tour we didn’t take but likely was also interesting we saw the outside and it was impressive.

A solo una hora de Orlando, este lugar tiene una playa de kilómetros de extensión, lo que permite que mas personas la usen y no se sienta aglomeración. La playa es calmada y nada profunda, me pareció muy segura.
Tienen espacios de estacionamiento gratuitos (Romanos fue al que fuimos), hay duchas, servicios higienicos y un lugar de comida rapida, excelente manera para pasar un dia de playa.
Recomiendo luego ir al centro comercial Ritchey Plaza que tiene un paso peatonal elevado, parqueen alli (cuesta $10) y podran salir a un malecon que conecta con el frente de hoteles y edificios de apartamentos muy bonito para pasear, cercsa hay lugares para comprar souvenirs. Nos servimos unos helados de menta riquisimos. Al fondo hay un restaurante sobre el muelle. Me encanto Daytona Beach, me encantaría pasar allí unos dias!!
Recomiendo almorzar en Crabbys Oceans muyu rico.
Nosotros luego regresamos a Orlando!!

Been coming here for over 45 years when our kids were small and grown up. Now we live here in Leesburg Florida and have been here several times over the past 1-1/2, even with our grandkids! Daytona Beach if my favorite beach! Just wish they would update the Boardwalk with new stores, game rooms and restaurants.

This was a nice break from Speed week. The beach was lovely, W did not encounter any trash or unpleasant environment. Sand was packed and water was cold.

Just a day trip. Love the beach. Not sure about the town. I heard some bad stories but like I said was there only for one day to enjoy the beach. They offer beach chairs and umbrellas for a reasonable price. A food truck is there for refreshments and food.

I had heard that last fall's Hurricane damaged and shrunk the beaches at Daytona, but was surprised to see how small they are now. In my last visit they were super wide with room for walkers, cars, sun bathers.Now the waves almost reach the hotels, leaving a small narrow beach at high tide. Many beach access points are damaged and closed, so it's harder to get down to the beach.

It was nasty we parked for two min felt uncomfortable and then left don’t bother it’s yucky. Daytona is one of the worst beaches I have ever seen in my life

I'm not much of a beach goer but this one was extremely pleasant, warm sea and plenty of space......and most amusing birds.
Finding a bathroom was a bit of a problem but other than that it was most pleasant.

We are in Orlando and have a week left. We are considering whether to go to Clearwater or Daytona - what do people think?

I think with the kids Daytona would be the best bang for the buck .like others have said the boardwalk has so much across the street is a nice waterpark /arcade large parking deck and restaurants.HOG HEAVEN is also across the street one of my favorites.

So I have never been to Daytona Beach. Trying to figure out which part of the beach to go to. Ideally, we want easy access to a good beachfront restaurant and ability to rent chairs and umbrellas. Being able to park on the beach would be nice too since we have never done that before and we will have a heavily pregnant person with us. Is it possible to have all three?

It is one of the few beaches you can still drive on and park. Just look for the arch Wonderful Daytona Beach, a little guard shack is there to collect your admission. Sorry I don't know how much it is. I was with a local with a season pass. Real nice gig! Have fun and don't forget the suntan lotion . . .you will burn especially on a cloudy day!

There are new rides on the boardwalk, a ferris wheel, rollercoaster, and several other new rides along with the arcades. There is also the Ocean Walk shoppes right there with restaurants, bars, a movie theatre and much more. Daytona is a fun place for people of all ages. Don't listen to the negative posts. I've lived here 25 years and would not want to be anywhere else!
