Upon arriving at the Reptile Discovery Center, there are two small areas for free parking. Then upon walking into the air conditioned welcome center, we were quickly greeted by a lady who took our entrance fee and provided helpful info. We proceeded to walk through the outside exhibitions which included enclosed gators, tortoises, and rhinoceros iguanas. Since it's summertime, the mornings get really hot so we returned to the indoor welcome center, where there is a large attached exhibit room with lots of snakes, mostly venomous. There were different types of geckos displayed too. At 11:30am (Sunday) there was the days only venom extracting show! This is a very cool experience where you get to see actual venom extractions from a variety of snakes just feet in front of you while hearing expert knowledge about these interesting reptiles!
Overall this was a nice experience, as long as you keep in mind that it's not a huge place, nor does it have tons of animals. But it's a cute venue that houses a variety of species that you normally would not see or probably have never seen before.

The Reptile Discovery Center (RDC) is relatively small and it does not take long to see all the outside and inside exhibits. A minimal amount of walking is required. There are tortoises, lizards, a few alligators, some non-venomous constrictors and many, very poisonous, exotic snakes on display, including a king cobra - its huge! The cobra's cage does not allow the cobra to raise itself up but you still can see what an impressively large snake it is. The main attraction is the venom milking demonstration. Don't miss it! The staff are welcoming, friendly and very knowledgeable. They will answer all your questions from the chemistry of venom and anti-venom to how many times one of them has been bit, and by what snake. Definitely worth the visit!

Based on the description, Miles,7 and Aidan,10 decided this was their first choice of regional day trips. And they were Not disappointed. Mara could not have been more welcoming, informed and professional. She and Max ensured that anyone who wanted a hands on snake experience got one. Carl delivered a demonstration like no other. The boys sat enraptured for over 90 minutes, listening to questions, and learning about the ferocious beauty of our snakes. What a special treat this was for them. Thank you, Mara, Carl and Max,

We took the grand kids ages 3, 9, & 10 to this. It was a huge hit! They have a program where you can watch them "milk" the poisonous snakes, very educational. There are 2 very sweet snakes that you can hold, very docile guys. Several displays of different reptiles. This was a lot of fun and I highly recommend it for families. Be sure to call ahead as they do have a lot of school groups that visit.

This was waaaaay more awesome than I expected it to be. I’m generally ambivalent toward snakes but a friend wanted to go. They have a surprisingly impressive collection of snakes with great information. The entire team was very knowledgeable and helpful. We witnessed and learned about the venom extraction process. (We were on the edge of our seat holding our breath!)
They also brought out two beautiful non-venomous snakes and taught us about them while taking time to let the small audience touch or hold them. They weren’t rushed, it was a very relaxed experience. To be honest, I left really kind of liking snakes and seeing them in a different light.
There were of course a good collection of children and the team was very patient answering all their questions. (Btw, the parents had just as many questions as the kids!)
10 out of 10, I would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone.

Amazingly large collection of snakes and very knowledgeable staff. Very affordable The venom extraction show was so exciting to watch. We saw so many species of snakes here that we've never seen anywhere else.

Very cool place... IF you like reptiles especially snakes. A lot in a small area. I missed the show where they do the venom extract but may have to go back for that. You should definitely check it out.

Very informative and pleasant staff. It was probably the most interesting site we visited during our trip to Daytona. The best time to visit is during the time they are doing venom retrieval. The times are listed on the website. It is a must do when visiting the area

My son (9) who's obsessed with herpetology saw Carl doing Vernon extractions on YouTube's Coyote Peterson's show Brave Wilderness and the Reptile Discovery Center was number one on our must-see list on our trip to Florida! Me, my mom and my two sons arrived around 11:20am, the woman at the counter gave us a friendly heads up that there were home school groups filling up the viewing room and we might want to come to the later showing. We took that opportunity to walk around their land to see the many animals they have on display outside (SO cool!) and we left to get some lunch nearby and let the kids play at a park called Freedom Park in DeLand. We returned before 3 for the extraction show that wasn't crowded. We loved their vast collection of snakes and reptiles - it was clean and the animals were easy for everyone to see. Carl and his wife brought out two non-venomous friendly snakes for everyone to hold and take pictures with as well as answer any of our many questions one on one. The venom extraction itself is something you've just gotta see for yourself, it was amazing!
