This was the third trip with the Sure Lure and Captain Don , First time with Tom as deck hand.Every time out has improved and provided a limit of Red Snappers along with other species including Bonita,Cobia ,Amberines ,Amberjack , King Mackerel and a large grouper to top off the day.
Captain Don puts you on the fish and Tom is a excellent hand at helping anyone bring in a nice representative of the species (as Tom calls them) or the catch of a lifetime.

Five of us went out on this boat that was chartered by one of my friends. There were three adults and two teenagers. This was the first experience deep sea fishing for 4 of us and we really aren't fishermen at all!
Captain Don and Tom were a fantastic team. Tom was very patient with our crew, showing us the ropes and educating us about the fish that we were trying to catch. We all had a fantastic time! We caught our limit of large red snapper as well as a bonito that we caught on the way back in. Tom cleaned all our fish and we then had them cooked up at the Brotula Seafood & Steamer (see separate review) that was at the end of the dock.
Disclaimer: I'm not a fisherman at all. Seriously. Not at all. Maybe you're not either and thought this would be a fun experience on a gulf trip. Do it. It was SO much fun. Couple of tips that are probably obvious to those that have been there / done that. Bring some seasickness medicine if you have any doubt about whether it will be a problem for you. My oldest son threw up once then was completely fine. Wear a hat. I did not initially, but was thankful that my brother had an extra. Apply sunscreen often. The breeze was very deceptive in making us feel like we weren't cooking in the sun. Lastly, bring plenty of water (in addition to whatever adult beverage you may want). It is easy to get dehydrated out on the water. The captain prefers cans to glass bottles.
Be sure to give these guys a call when you are here. They will treat you to a great time - even for newbies!

We took the Sure Lure out with a group of 6 for a friends fishing trip. All of us are novice fishermen and needed the great guidance provided by the captain and crew. We hauled in red snapper, a big grouper and a lot of other good stuff. Thank you.

Captain Don and Deckhand Tom were the best. We fished for 7 hours catching mahi mahi, wahoo, black fin tuna, dorado, and vermillion snapper (mingos). Tom is a great teacher and raconteur. Don is a great outfitter/guide/Captain to work with before, during and after the charter. We will fish with them again.

Captain Don lead us on an early morning fishing trip for snapper. And we were very successful. The morning started early and we got the pleasure of seeing the sun rise over the gulf. We made a short stop to catch some bait fish, then it was out on the gulf. The fish were biting and we had a limit and was back by about one. The first mate cleaned up our catch so we could take it hope. It was a wonderful experience and my next gulf fishing expedition will definitely be with Sure Lure!
