Egan's Creek
There were lots of trails to explore and wildlife to see. We visited different parts on different days and had several fun experiences.

Greenway to Fort Clinch and Back!
Took the greenway on bikes from Sadler Rd up to Atlantic Ave/A1A, then on to the Fort Clinch Road all the way to fort. Go early in AM or in afternoon because the majority of the trail between Sadler and Atlantic is not under tree cover, but the whole road within Ft Clinch SP is a canopy of oaks - beautiful. Either way, tons of wildlife along the way. Total time each way = 45 minutes (at easy pace - I am no cyclist!), but that's if you don't stop to photograph turtles, alligators, birds, etc. Plan for a bottle of water each way! You can refill at the fort. Cyclists pay $2 each to enter SP.

Saw dozens of turtle, a mama alligator and her babies!
We stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn and the trail was easily accessible from their parking lot. After six hours sitting in a car, it was nice to stretch our legs. The trails were well marked, flat and tree cover provided shade in many areas. It was easy to “social distance” ourselves as it was not crowded.

Best place to start your day

I went on a solo walk on the recommendation of the hotel manager. I was grateful I did it! It’s a pretty long trail, where you can either walk or bike. If you’re lucky, you’ll see some wildlife: I got to see some birds, but no alligators. I was mostly by myself throughout the 2 hours I spent there, so it was ideal to do some much-needed thinking and goal assessment about various aspects of my life there. Definitely therapeutic experience!

Really different type of trail
The trail is a wide grassy pathway bordering the creek /marsh on one side. It is completely level and suitable for walking or bikes. There is a separate section set up for mountain biking, we did not venture down this section but presumably it has more lumps and bumps ? We say several different types of birds including the Eastern Oystercatcher. There are a number of informative signs along the way and several benches to rest on or contemplate the scene.
Well worth an hours quiet stroll

Pretty ride

Spent a couple of hours riding the greenway on both sides of Jasmine St. This was a nice easy ride through well marked trails. We saw pretty birds, flowers, Spanish moss draped oaks, bunnies, turtles, and lots of baby alligators( had to look closely at the banks).

Super bicycle and walking trail between Sadler Rd. and Atlantic Avenue.
2019年6月 • 家庭
Rented bicycles and began our bike ride cruising Fletcher (A1A) down south until the crossroads of Buccaneer Road. Circled back towards the north and final found the Greenway (it’s next to the Residence Inn on Sadler). Wonderful surprise - plunges into old Florida vegetation, narrow waterways, large trees, scrub and sawgrass. Well maintained path. At near sundown, we saw hundreds of brown bunnies ahead of us scurrying out of the way as we rode up the path. Ran into only one other person on that 2+ mile stretch. Lots to see. Benches situated every 1/4 mile or so. Signage along the way indicating the animals found there, a map of the trail every so often and partially shaded. Most fun so far!

Lovely Walk!

We went out for a walk to see everything. Plenty of shady spots to pause in, take a bottle of water. We started at the south end, did red to blue, to yellow and out. We saw 68 turtles, 4 alligators (including a baby resting on moms back), 2 small deer, and several birds. It was great!

Our family of 4 had the best bike ride on this trail! We saw incredible views and wildlife. The trails were manageable for all to ride- great experience.
