Enjoyed seeing & hearing the personal story of the Stranahans, woven into the story of the development of the entire Southeastern Florida area. Also the gorgeous backdrop on the river is just beautiful.

Very well worth the experience to spend an hour learning about the founding of Ft. Lauderdale and the amazing story surrounding the house.

The knowledge of the docent. Great tour! Very enjoyable tour of the early days in Florida and the history of the area , the house and those living there. I hope the continued development never have it destroyed!

Wonderful tour. Great explanation of the beginnings of Fort Lauderdale and the Seminole community. Very informative. Allow plenty of time to park as there is construction in the area. Easy to book on line.

Great tour by John, the caretaker of 30+ years, who was acquainted with a member of the Stranahan family, and had lots of interesting details and tidbits to tell. Really interesting history and a wonderfully restored home right along the Riverwalk. Well worth taking the time to check it out!

Highlight of my day in FL. There is a garden one can explore prior to the guided tour. Informative and easy paced over both floors of an unique river-fronted property enjoying multi-usage since the 19th c.
There is a sad twist in this communitarian tale of the founders of this vibrant city.

Very informative and interesting tour. Beverly did a fantastic job relaying the history behind the house. The staff was extremely friendly and really seem to appreciate our interest in the history. Definitely something that you should see!

I enjoyed a visit to Stranahan House. It provided a glimpse into the early history of Ft. Lauderdale which includes the house being a site for trade and a post office. The house is next to a water taxi stop. So, you can hop on from there to access other parts of the city.

We have visited dozens and dozens of historic sights in our many years of travel. Stranahan House was one of the best ever. We learned so much about the history of Ft Lauderdale from our guide, Greg. He was so incredibly knowledgeable from his extensive research through primary sources left by Frank and Ivy Stranahan that we got a clear picture of their lives together and how they were singularly responsible for founding Ft Lauderdale. This tour set us up with background that other tours we went on couldn’t match. If you have any interest in learning about Ft Lauderdale history, this tour is a must. Be sure to tour with Greg for an unforgettable experience like ours.

I will be visiting fort Lauderdale during the first week of May and would like to visit Stranahan house as on previous pre cruise visits I did not have time. I was wondering if I will be able to buy tickets for a house-tour on the spot as my itinerary is such that it is difficult to buy all tickets in advance. Thanks
We conduct tours at 1, 2, and 3 pm almost every day. It is best to call the day before or the morning that you want to visit to confirm tour times. We do not sell tickets in advance and ask that you arrive 10-15 minutes in advance of your chosen tour times to purchase tickets. Please be advised that we will be closed on Memorial Day.

Where do you park?
There is a small parking lot on-site for tour guests to park in. Sometimes we have events that use that space for set-up so parking is sent off-site to nearby garages or on-street parking. The Riverside Hotel is the best option - it is right next door and you can pay for hourly parking.
It is best to call before your visit to confirm parking availability. Our office number is 954-524-4736.
