There were several dogs not on leashes and ran all over the place. A few ran up to my dog who was on a leash, and scared her. Needless to say, she let them know she didn't like it. Otherwise very enjoyable for us.

I followed the directions for this beach and found nothing there! There is a Canova Dog beach at the Conova beach after you cross 518 out of Eau Gaullie

It's great that there's a beach especially for dogs, but while I was there not one other owner had their dog on a leash, despite the fact that it's a rule and the law! I have to keep my small dog on a leash to avoid her wandering off, and when other dogs ran up to her she went into protection mode. It was super stressful for all of us, at a place that should instead be calming and fun. Will never go there again.

Nice beach, but please do NOT plan to bring your small or shy dog to this beach. In general, people do not leash their dogs, and twice now, my sweet little chihuahua has been chased, practically hanging himself on his leash, by a giant dog whose owners had their dogs off leash and could not call them back to stop chasing my dog. Two separate dogs. Two separate times. In one case, the owner was not even watching. Everyone thinks their dog is friendly. But dogs are dogs. They can snap at any moment. Very sad, but this beach is NOT a good place to bring small dogs. I have learned my lesson. Too dangerous. Not fair because people should follow the rules! All dogs should be allowed to walk on the beach safely. 🐕

Was great time, but restrooms was gross 🤮 filthy… beach was so nice. I will recommend this place. Also get early cause parking is busy.

This is one of the many beach parks located along A1A. It happens to be located directly at the intersection of A1A and the East end of Eau Gallie Blvd. There is a light at this intersection so it is easy to get to, and depart from, this particular park. There is a parking lot with about 50 spaces for cars. There is a single building housing the restrooms right off the parking lot. To the south of the restrooms is a grassy area and a beach entrance. This is a dog-friendly park so this particular area is a good part for taking your furry friends both before and after their beach visit. To the north of the building is 2 more beach entrances. All are wooden walkways. The 2 on the north end are very pretty because the plants form a tunnel that you walk through to get to the beach. The beach here is very nice with a gentle slope about 60 feet to the water. Two of the walkways have stairs down to the beach and the other walkway is a ramp affair. They have held an Easter sunrise service from this location for several years and sometimes there is a food truck operating from the parking lot. Overall, it is a very nice place to go to the beach

This beach is great - a dog's paradise. For some reason a lot of the local vagabonds hang out here at dusk and after so don't be there then!

This is the perfect dog beach! The area is not very big so arrive early to secure a spot. We spent all day and everyone had their doggies leashed and followed all the doggie rules. We met so many nice folks! Beach was clean and all the doggies were living their best doggie life! This is definitely a must do! Your doggie(s) will love you for it!

Beautiful beach. We went for a walk in the beach and saw a few dogs on leash The beach is so clean and perfect to swim, fish and walk.

So first the bad just to get it out of the way. The bathrooms weren't the greatest! They had a smell and were pretty dirty. Having said that, they provide bathrooms and changing areas and are beachside, so you really can't complain much about that. Now the awesome! They have a large dog beach area (which we greatly appreciate!!!). They provided doggie waste bags, a rinse off area (also very appreciated as our little dog loved rolling in the sand! LOL) and plenty of beach to play on. All of the other dog owners were very considerate in introducing our pups to one another and also very aware of taking things slowly when introducing them. Even dogs that were off leash were very well behaved and really fun to watch. Great place and I wish there were more like this on the coast!

Are there only certain hours that dogs are allowed on this beach? I know the park hours are dawn to dusk.

Hi. Does anybody know of a pet friendly hotel that is directly on the Canova pet friendly beach?
A name and address would be great. I don't mind calling the hotels and asking but I have no idea the address area the dog beach is on.

Hi Donna, Can't tell you a pet friendly nearby but we stayed at America's Best Value Inn at West Melbourne and they do have pets and it is only a short drive down to Canova Beach Dog Park..
The actual Dog Park address is 3299 S Highway A1a Indian Harbor and it is South of Melbourne Beach. God luck searching !

What about as a family friendly beach? We're looking at renting a house with access to this beach, and while we don't have any "fur babies" we have six children. Is this a place where they could play, too?

There are many parks on a1a. Find one with the best kid amenities. Canova is only ok.
