What a treat, doesn't look much when you pull into the car park. But the gardens yesterday were fabulous, some of the loveliest daffodils I have ever seen. Really unusual varieties. Loved the natural woodland setting. Brought my 83 year old mum and it was just the right size for her to wander round and have a little sit down every so often.
Had beautiful tea and cakes at the cafe. Incredibly clean, couldn't fault it.
Then we bought some lovely perenials at the nursery. Again really unusual and high quality.
Will definitely be back later in the season to see the changes to the garden. Such a warm welcome even got a wave from the nurseryman as we left. Perfect afternoon.

Although I have been here previously many years ago, British Naturalism (BN) held a Clothes Optional (CO) even in 2021 - and since I'm a nudist I went along. The event was quite well attended (you had to pre book on the BN site) in all about 25 nudists of all ages and shapes (nudity is not about body beautiful - its just about being you). Gardens were wonderful and everyone very friendly and open to conversation and no issues with taking pictures. I have walked through secluded woods naked and skinny dipped etc but walking through such a wonderful garden (with many others) naked connects you more to nature - I do recommend if you can add it to your bucket list or just do it (we are all naked under our clothes - even Granny Ogg (disk world ref)

Visited Goltho Gardens on the main Lincoln road, esay to miss if going towards Lincoln.
Free parking on site which is also a garden centre.
Adults £7.50 each no concessions for seniors.
An assortment of shrubs and flowers to see with a small lake.
A cafe also onsite. Not to long to see it all , did not think it worth, what we paid.

Visited on a lovely sunny day and enjoyed strolling around. We were pleased to see the abundance of insect life attracted to the gardens and it was lovely to see the tortoise too!
Perhaps a tad pricey but we still enjoyed it. Good snack in the cafe, friendly service and super ice cream.
One distraction was the constant noise from the road - I don't know whether some kind of tall fencing on that side might help (although that would be expensive and probably have to be reflected in a price increase!)

Four great features including an apple tree/chicken enclosure which the kids adored; a lovely large lily pond, the decking area of which needs fencing off on one corner for kid's safety; a long narrow lawn where we had a running race and an enchanting tunnel of trees - a perfect photo opportunity.
Agree that £7.50 is too much to be honest because you can walk around the entire grounds in a short amount of time, but by the same token, the owners probably work extremely hard to maintain the place & need the financial support. If you're going with children, extend your time there by having a game of hide & seek. Great fun, but STAY OFF THE FLOWER BEDS!
One female member of staff was unnecessarily abrupt with me but I kind of understand: my children's over-excitement scared the chickens a couple of times. They didn't mean to do this, but sorry anyway.

My wife and I stayed at the bed and breakfast for a long weekend and the accommodation was excellent. A very good hearty breakfast to start the day by our delightful host and the rooms were spacious with all the facilities as expected. Our views from the bedroom window across the gardens were amazing and a walk through the borders to see all the different species of plants was truly beautiful. We will definitely come and stay again.

Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed with the size of the gardens. The website makes the 'walks' seem much bigger than they actually are, when in reality you can get around the whole thing in about 15 minutes. The entrance fee of £7.50 is completely overpriced for the value of this experience.
Additionally, in spite of paying an entrance fee, and purchasing drinks from the cafe, I was refused to be able to eat my own food, in spite of those with me purchasing food, and myself having medical dietary requirements. Nowhere on the website (or that I could see on site in the cafe), stated that your own food couldn't be eaten and I found this appalling to be honest.

Our second visit here. The gardens were still beautiful even though we visited in September when a lot of gardens are “going over”. This one is still in top form. A lot to see as you walk round and there is a huge area of cyclamen under the trees at this time of year. A really lovely restful garden to wander round with a lot to see. The following day we went back to have our lunch in the tea room. It was superb. A lovely clean comfortable place to relax overlooking the gravel garden. Nothing too much trouble. So friendly. The meal was so good. We had our lunch here every day two years ago when on holiday and it was really good then. The standards haven’t dropped. Would definitely suggest having a meal or tea/coffee and cake here.

Visited whilst on holiday nearby. Very pretty gardens with interesting little areas to explore, and a good variety of plants. Enjoyed the visit very much, but would not recommend anyone driving any distance to see the gardens as they are so small.
Lower rating because I feel that for the size of the garden it was a little overpriced. Good that children are admitted free of charge, but what about a senior concession? £10 for a couple of senior citizens to spend less than an hour seems a bit steep. Or maybe a drink in the tearoom included?

I am sorry you felt that your time at Goltho was expensive. We have been £5.00 entry for many years and have had thousands of happy customers and as a private garden of 4.5 acres it considered quite large. We do not do concessions as our core audience tends to be on the retired side, we do, do the Gardeners World 2 for 1 entry which is very popular.
