我们一家人从迈阿密到基韦斯特旅行，带着3个分别为13、19、23岁的孩子，这条路上的景色美极了，你可以在岛上停下来休息，也可以在那游泳或浮潜。

我原本对开上跨海大桥有点担心，特别是当我听见这座桥有7英里！7英里那么长！哦，我讨厌桥！但开过跨海大桥是一次很让人放松的体验！我们去的那天美国空军蓝天使队正在演练，我得说那真的很好看！！

我们从迈阿密开车去基韦斯特。大约4到4个半小时的车程。大约在84英里标志处发生了一起事故，我们和其他人一起排了两个小时的队，于是这次行程共花了六个半小时。希望没有人受伤。一路上真漂亮。当我们接近基韦斯特时，海军正在进行空中演习，出乎意料。虽然我不能看风景(因为开车)，但我的妻子说很美。在百里香路上有很多地方可以停下来。本田海滩很棒。当然天气也是一部分因素，当你从寒冷的地方来到气温82华氏度的地方。

我每次都更享受开车的3小时。只要看看大西洋和墨西哥湾，在桥上开车就值得一游。你可能会遇到交通堵塞，但你只需要放轻松、享受。这也比从迈阿密座飞机便宜。

令人惊讶的是，这里被开发过度了，在经过马拉松之前都非常无趣。经过marathon之后，有一些挺酷的景观。7英里的大桥是一大亮点。分崩离析的老桥看起来有些吓人。从迈阿密开过来很远。我想下次我们会直接飞到基维斯特。

Hello! I would love to NOT rent a car for our trip to there Keys. But I would like to travel from Islamorada to Marathon for a day, Key West for a day and Key Largo for a day. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get around without a car?

That's going to be kind of hard to do I don't know if you can get ahold of Uber or a taxi we always get to our destination and then rent scooters especially down in Key West there's no parking four cars anywhere

Hi,
I plan to rent a car and drive from the Miami airport to key west and back. I have a few questions. Would you purchase your own sun pass or pay $9/day from the rental company? We plan to stay 2-3 nights at oceans edge and 4-5 nights in key largo at a resort.
Also, would you suggest making the drive from key west back to key largo on Saturday or Sunday?

You can purchase the sticker-type (cannot be moved between vehicles) SunPass for $5.00. When you set up your SunPass account, they credit you $5.00 in tolls, so it is virtually free. Simply remove the SunPass from the rental car when you return the vehicle and cancel your online account. Frankly, $9 per day is a rip off. SunPass can be purchased at thousands of locations and all toll road rest areas.

Took us about 3 hours each way. It is one lane in each direction and the highest speed limit is 55. Passes though many island towns with traffic lights. Not the drive for someone in a hurry. So plan for a minimum of 3 hours. Holidays are slower.

We are renting a car in Miami and driving down to Key West. The car rental charges for every day we have a Sun Pass. Are there any tolls that I need to worry about? Some sites say I need to take the Turnpike before I get on the Overseas Highway. Please advise. Thanks!!

You need to have the SunPass to go down the FL turnpike extension (HEFT) to Homestead. After Homestead you will be on US1 (South Dixie Highway) which has no tolls all the way to Key West. The toll-free option from Miami would be US1 (South Dixie Highway) from Miami to Key West. Be aware that the speed limit, for the most-part) is 45mph from Homestead to Key West.

The speed limit through the Keys is anywhere from 35mph to 55mph. Remember this is a long drive going through areas of population to others of almost no population. It’s a highway over the ocean. Some areas have two lanes going each way and others are one lane each way. It will take you almost three hours to drive through the Keys. Parts are picturesque beautiful and others are desolate nothingness and others strips of shopping centers with tourist offerings.

Hi, would you recommend this route for a new driver? I have a license but have had it only for 2 weeks and never driven on the freeways before but driven on plenty of non-city highways with speed limits 65mph.

Generally not a busy road, unless it is a holiday. Speed limit is at most 55. Passes through many small island towns. Beautiful drive and easy to get distracted. Good idea to plan to stop from time to time to enjoy the scenery, rather than risk getting into an accident. Overall about as much traffic as a secondary highway in the Midwest...just slower.
