Beautiful and amazingly well kept garden. The orchids alone were breathtaking. Well worth the time. Make sure you donate to keep his great cause going!!!

This place is a gem! Do not miss it! It’s a smallish place located right on the beach that is packed with beautiful and interesting plants…a butterfly garden, flowering cacti, flowering trees and shrubs, sculpture, and so much more. Bring your camera! The exhibits are all outdoors. There is no admission fee but this non profit accepts donations. After touring the gardens, trust me you’ll want to make a donation. You could spend 1/2 hour here or an hour or so. They also have a small, lovely gift shop.

A great treat in Key West! Everyone comes for various reasons, and a lot visit the botanical gardens in the old Fort Martello west - and you’ll never forget this one of a kind garden! Such a diverse collection in a peaceful setting with world class views! And the only attraction that does not charge admission! We’ll be back!

One of the most pleasant and peaceful spots on Key West! Loved the butterflies and hummingbirds, orchids and beautiful landscaping! Don’t miss a visit when you come down!!

What a wonderful, beautiful garden! Someone definitely knows how to grow orchids here! We were absolutely amazed at the vast assortment & the # of beautiful orchids throughout the garden. In the butterfly garden, I couldn't keep track of all the fluttering beauties! The view of the ocean was a nice surprise at the back. The ruins of this historic fort are the perfect backdrop for this garden! What a win, win for Key West residents & visitors! How generous to keep it free for everyone ❤️

My Dad and I visited the West Martello Tower and Key West Garden Club last week. It was absolutely stunning! We enjoyed our time walking around the property, viewing the flowers and plant life, seeing the fort remains, and peaking at a few ocean views! We had eaten our lunch on the benches by the beach before visiting, but we learned that there are tables and eating areas inside the gardens. We'll opt for that next time as it's much more peaceful. The woman at the front desk told us that many locals bring their lunches to eat in the garden. The most impressive part is that it is completely free to visit and is maintained by volunteers!! Definitely recommend visiting - even if you're not usually into gardens.

Thank you for your lovely review. To all others reading this, the garden is beginning construction of a new gazebo in the courtyard. Just to get it started the garden will be closed for one day on Monday, March 18th. Sorry for any inconvenience. Come back to see our new state of art Courtyard Gazebo.

I went to the club's garden tours (today and tomorrow) on Von Phister st. Fabulous gardens, very informative and knowledgeable volunteers eager to help with plants. We received some great info for our own garden. Definitely recommend.

Thank you for your glowing remarks on the Garden Tours. To view these beautiful gardens the tour continues on Saturday, February 24th from 10:00 to 3:00 all along Von Phister Street in Key West. Tickets can be bought for $35 at 1400 Von Phister. Easily walkable. Expert gardeners on sight to provide information about the landscape and the plants. DON'T MISS THIS ANNUAL EVENT!!!

We discovered by chance this charming garden built in an old fort. It is free and once a week volunteers come to maintain it. There are beautiful orchids, a butterfly garden and beautiful cacti. No big deal but really cute and close to the beach.

This is by far the best free attraction in Key West if you love nature. Pretty ocean views, plenty of resting spots to relax and enjoy the flowers. Friendly and informative staff.

It is all the way across the Key/island from the cruise docks. But it is not a hilly walk so it is doable. It is north of Duval street by several blocks. There is a free bus that goes on the streets north and south of Duvall that you can take to the southern most point area and then you zigzag north along the coast. Be sure to have water.

Snorkeling is nice and shallow from Higgs Beach. You can see tropical fish and possibly lobster. If you venture far from shore, make sure you have a "divers down" flag with you.There are also many snorkel guides available in Key West that will take you to coral reefs that are beautiful.
