I’m former US Coast Guard and I have been around boats my whole life. We don’t have a boat yet in Key West so we have rented from Spencer’s for the past 4 years, dozens of times and they are always helpful, courteous and professional. Their boats and equipment are in great shape. They are the best place in Key west to rent boats as we have tried other folks before we found them.

Plenty of option, easy down to earth team. Easy access to water ways and sand bars. They provide maps, and all safety gear. We had a 20ft deck boat, older but worked great, canopy was in good shape. You need some shade here on the water

Fantastic directions out on the water where the fish would be based on the conditions of the day. Couldn't be easier to rent the boat and go. Just show your boaters safety certificate and the boat is yours, show up around 8:15 and you will be on the water by 8:30. Friendly staff, my girlfriend rented the boat and they were very respectful. Would recommend anyone to go through Spencer's, we had a great time and caught a ton of fish. Pick up bait across the street and have a great day.

These are the best rental boats in key west. The boats are clean and the staff is great. We have been renting from them for over 4 years now and will continue to do so.

The boat was in very poor condition. It ran yes, cosmetically it was dirty and beat. Sadly the guy who provided the boat did not appear to have much local boating experience (said he’s been in Key West 5 months) and from his previous career probably very little to no boating experience. He sent us north into the bay side while the wind was blowing from the north, VERY choppy. We had hoped to snorkel and paid for the gear though there was no way that was ever going to happen due to where we were sent. Overall very disappointed

The poor reviews on this place are not wrong, I know now from experience, but let me start off by saying the guy that I dealt with may have been having a bad day but upon arrival he was very unfriendly. He asked if I have ever boated before and I have numerous times and he went over everything and then took me down to the boat. He said go ahead and get in, I was with my wife and he did not even address her or say anything to her. We both got into the boat and he said go ahead and sit down in the driver's seat. He then asked me to check the skeg and prop. Which I said the propeller? He then just looked at me and said you tell me. So I said you mean the button to lower the motor? He said I can't let you go out there today. I thought at first he was joking but he was like lets go back into the office and process a refund. He said I needed to get out of the boat and point to the skeg and prop. He was dead serious and said lets go and just left us sitting there in the boat as he walked back to the office. He said I did not know enough to boat. Now with a little more customer service classes he may have been able to handle the situation a little differently but I can guarantee you if a car mechanic told you to point to certain things in an engine and you were unable to do it does not mean you can't drive a car and the funny thing about it all is I knew he was talking about parts of the motor I just did not know he wanted me to get back out of the boat and show him which I will give it to him he tricked me by saying to get into the boat and sit down because I was under the impression that he meant lowering the unit into the water with the button on the throttle. Anyway he told me to wait as he checked in other people for boats. I waited for 20-30 minutes and when I saw him again he was like can I help you? I said yes you said you were going to give me a refund, and he was like oh I already did that but he never told me as I was standing there for 20-30 minutes. I asked him if I can have a print out for it and he said he emailed it to me, I did not receive the email until later on in the day but he did refund me but it had a same day cancellation fee of 50 dollars. I did not cancel it, he canceled it on me the same day, but for some reason there was an extra 21 dollars that I was not refunded and so the total "cancelation fee was 71 dollars" but it is what it is, based off the boat that we got to sit in for 2 minutes the seats were ripped and it was not in the best shape so if they need the 71 dollars more than me, I hope they apply it to boat repairs or customer service classes. The guy may have been having a bad day but by the looks of it he did not have much going for him to begin with. Anyway I don't want to hear any rebuttal from them because the facts are there are other places to rent boats down there and if you look at all the ratings they are the lowest ones (Hurricane Hole, Sunset Water Sports, Florida Keys Boat Rentals.) I just happened to pick the one closest to where we were staying and it was Spencers but hey you win some and you lose some, so I would advise to look elsewhere to book.

Great service! The boat was great, thankful for the gps! The deck hand was fabulous! Fast, friendly, helpful! We loved our full day boat rental!

Our boat was in bad condition. We asked about the depth finder not working - they said we wouldn’t need it. Two doors were broken and slammed open/shut the entire day. Cup holder was ripped out. Ladder was rusty with nails sticking out and daughter cut her finger. Staff was very condescending. Very unlike key west as most everyone we met during our trip was so helpful and kind.

What should have been a fun day on the water, turned ugly very fast. The person giving us out boating instructions was very rude and insulting, as my wife asked questions he replied “is she always like this”, then he suggested I trade her in for a younger model and when I confronted him and demanded a full refund he simply said he didn’t mean it… whatever, you still said it…I would NEVER consider this rental spot as long as they will use someone like this man… Tool our business to Hurricane Hole Marina… Much better!!!
