Great walk/hike. Out and back. Starts with a full sun beautiful stretch through magnificent wild flowers - phlox, passion fruit, and many more. Then the trail becomes shady and cooler. Easy trail, runs parallel to a housing development at the end. Had a decent pizza lunch at the restaurant across the street - Rodello's

Nice park for kids. Lots of playground equipment and especially if your kids like climbing. There’s a short boardwalk to the lake as well. My gkids love coming here.

We live close by, so we have easy access and that is a plus, but the openness and beauty of the preserve make you believe you are nowhere near a city, let alone a highway.
I would estimate that we come here - mainly on bicycle - at least once every other week and spend maybe of couple of hours on the trails. The true nature of the park is relaxing and enjoyable. The signs say to watch out for snakes, alligators and other animals, but we've only actually seen a snake once and have never felt like the park is not safe.
The activities are biking, hiking, a playground, ball field, tennis and pickle ball courts and a river walk. It's really a little gem right here in Lake County.

Had a delightful morning exploring this park with some volunteers who were well versed in all of the history, wildlife and fauna and has access to the nature center. It's a level, easy walk around the entire park and there are numerous options to take shorter hikes. Not the best time of year for plant life and wildlife, but still enjoyed immensely.

Very nice walk, not as quiet as I would have liked as you can hear the road. Not a lot of wildlife, but there is a very nice creek path. I also like the big gazebo for a picnic. Much better than the last 2 hikes in this area. Even though it says no dogs, there was a couple with a Pitbull, I hate those dogs!

I am lucky to live within a walking distance of the beautiful Palatka Environmental Area. This is also known as PEAR Park.
With miles of walking paths, both paved and unpaved it is my number one choice for a relaxing walk or bike ride. There are several bathrooms that have well maintained when I had the need for their use.
There is a large dog park with areas segregated for size of dog. There is even a dog was station there for your convenience.
There is a paved walking path with numerous fitness stations along it. There are both tennis, pickleball courts as well as two softball fields that are kept in perfect condition.
The wildlife area has both bike and walking paths with some following the Palatka Creek that are shaded and the woods are gorgeous with a variety of wildlife there. There are wildflower areas, butterfly areas and a large variety of other natural areas to explore. All paths are well marked and maintained. There are a couple of large gazebos for parties that can be reserved. The largest one is on a hill with great overviews of the largest part of the natural area. Bring bug spray in the warmest months.
This place is worth the visit. I am blessed to live so close by. Come and explore. You won't be disappointed!

Plesent walking trails thru the woods and along the river. Lots of things to see along the trails. Good fenced in dog are to let you pets run. Also some nice areas to have a picnic.

My husband and I were there on a hot day on a late October early afternoon, and we had the park to ourselves. Nicely groomed grass trails, but we had a hard time finding the trail head. Also didn't quite get that a nicely shaded Trail ran along the river and one also ran through the field - that was quite a bit hotter. Definitely take the trail along the river as it is much cooler and quite scenic. Saw a large tortoise, an egret and a heron on our loop around the park.

This park is a gem! Hiking trails along the river, biking trails, butterfly gardens, informative plantings, tennis, pickle ball, softball, dog park, kids play area, basketball, clean restrooms. The hiking trails are well cleared and take you through fields or along the river under a canopy of live oak.

I have hiked in this park a few times since moving to Leesburg, FL. I have found the creek side trails to be well maintained and perfect for Florida hiking, i.e. shaded!
