Spent 3 hours in the road to get there on a trip that normally would take 50 minutes. Miami has no business hosting this event. They have no infrastructure, no adequate roads, no traffic management. I gave up and turned around to go home. Don’t waste your time.

We loved the Basel. Miami is a great city and South Beach is so pretentious that we can't take it serious.

90% of the art was sub par, the remaining 10% was impressive. Bought a two day pass to the convention centre, we covered a lot of ground on the first day i.e. saw the entire floor. Quite disappointed with the quality, or lack there of, of most of the artwork therefore did not go back on day two. We travel a lot to explore art around the world and were very disappointed. Just because it's called "art" and it's a Basel, doesn't mean it's quality art. Lots of side bar smaller venues that were quite interesting but not the Basel show, it's like they rushed to fill the convention centre floor with a bunch of low quality art.

Art basel miami is an amazing event . It’s kind of a glorious mess. Getting tting around the city is painful but it’s always worth it to see the world class art.

The times of the big parties at the big hotels such as the Delano, VIP Parties at Villa Versace and wild dance parties are over. Art Collectors do not come as they used to but stay closer to where they live. Ever since Sam Keller left the new management has tried successfully to kill the hype and install pure and hard business.

I never attended the Basel Art exhibition before. I decided to travel from Fort Lauderdale to Miami Convention Center by public transport. Yesterday, multiple times I tried to call to ask questions but no one picked up the phone even in Spanish language. Disaster! When by 6:00PM I was lucky to have someone answering the phone, I learned that only online sale tickets was possible. Then my nightmare started. I went online and found out multiple entrance locations were offered and very limited visit time frame left to choose from to. I never been before at that building and was not familiar with the building layoff. Do I work there?. Also, for senior discount, I had to attach my photo id and wait for confirmation for later to complete the transaction. Crazy. I visited thousands of museums in my entire life and never experienced such ordeal before and never encountered such aggravation. The Basel Art online site is not al all friendly. After entering all the necessary information, I received an email from the venue asking me to re order my ticket. Re-order again? Too much for such visit! I never received the email confirmation either online or later. It was a fiasco!
The purchase transaction is not completed instantly until the site does the authentic proof of the senior age. I was supposed to get an email which never arrived. The site wants to make sure that no one is paying less. What a strange and mediocre way to conduct business! No human cashier. Everything online with mediocre technology.
Immediately, I wrote my comments online and got an answer but no confirmation. The person who responded asked me to re order the ticket and but the visit time frame was much less than the first one. Consequently, I decided not to go, It was a waste of my time to think I could make it. Was easier to win the lottery.
I won’t recommend that art show unless you start booking earlier in the year. I am very disappointed and deceived to have lost the battle. Better to watch it on YouTube.

What is the least expensive way to get from the Larry & Penny Thompson campground to the Miami Beach convention center without a vehilcle? I saw a lot of transportation is free during the event.

Some people come in the day before to get settled and buy their ticket to the main show at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Also arrange private transfers from someone like me to Wynwood, Coral Gables, etc.

Does anyone have advice about where to stay? How far in advance to book lodging? I've been to the fair a few times but would like to make a weekend of it and check out some of the other fairs, outside of Basel/Miami Beach. Open to Airbnbs, etc. Thanks!

El art Basel es solo e diciembre y son solo 4 días los primeros de diciembre .. Las entradas salían al rededor de 35/40 dólares en los lugares más públicos ... Había también en hoteles de lujo que ahi no tengo idea el precio de la entrada .. Saludos

My husband and I are going to Art Basel for our first time in Miami. We are excited. Are we allowed to buy art as well? If we purchase the all weekend pass, is it the same place we can also buy art as well?
