We stay at our timeshare which is still super close and not a disney location

It is horribly difficult to get a reservation. You have two chances at it. You can log into your app to join the virtual queue at 7am and again at 1pm if you did not get a reservation during the 7am window. We woke up early and logged in at 7am and tried to join and it was full when we clicked right at 7am. We tried again at 1pm and we got it, but it was full at 1:01pm. You have to be in Hollywood Studios at 1pm to try that window, but can be anywhere to try the 7am window. Once you get a reservation, it is not guaranteed that you will get to irde, they need to call your group number before the park closes or you lose out as well. Very difficult, consider yourself lucky ig you get in, I do.

The light sabers are $200 to build your own. Highly recommend to get a Reservation.

If your not staying on Disney at a resort you won’t benefit from the 6, 7 or 8am early magic hours unfortunately so 9am is the earliest you can get in My advice stay one night at a resort on Disney property

Disney keeps tweaking the process. As of now, you have to be in the park as others have said, but you cannot request to join a boarding party until the park officially opens. Everyone in your group must be in the park when you request the boarding party to be included in your reservation if you want to ride together.

I went back multiple times during our 6 days trip. I find after 7 is the best the crowds have dimmed down and its beautiful during the night with all the lights. Honestly, if you do everything maybe 5 hours.

We have visited the Star Wars land at WDW and even for non-Star Wars fans it is very cool with lots of detail. For now you enter from Hollywood Studios (you can enter from two different parts of the park) but when the hotel is done I believe you will also be able to enter directly from that location as well. I have heard that they can limit access to the new land if it fills up. When we were there in Sept the land was still very new but access was no problem. Online assumptions have been that crowds are low due to Rise of the Resistance not being open yet and therefore many fans might be waiting until Dec when it opens and then the land will be complete. Only time will tell. There are no FastPasses as of yet since the land is new and I would expect that still to be the case when you go over the New Year. You can make reservations for Oga Cantina, which is essentially a bar with very limited food, but presumably this should guarantee you access to the land. You can also make advance reservations to build Droid or Lightsaber, and while that is an expensive option, it should get you into the land if there is a capacity issue. Enjoy!

Yes you can and no judgment on what you want to drink and how or when, you do you and enjoy your vacation. My recommendation however is you can get a beer anywhere that needs no reservation and at anytime so getting a beer there is like going to a steakhouse and ordering the chicken lol Try something you can't get everywhere else just for the experience and you can make your 2nd drink a beer to wash down the sugar from the 1st drink. They have a drink that gives you a numbing effect in your mouth fro example... Also there's a non alcoholic version of both milks just in case and you can get the milk outside of the Cantina as well.
