We visited Tarkiln Bayou for a short hike along the boardwalk to the bayou. The views were outstanding with many orchids and pitcher plants visible along the way. The bayou itself was beautiful. Crabs and fish were visible from the overlook. The trail and boardwalk were very flat and the handicap accessible. I highly recommend this park and look forward to returning and hiking the rest of the trails!

Took a short easy one mile (out and back- .5 each way)walk. Water is at the end of the boardwalk. Some people thought they saw dolphin fins coming out of the water.

Dieser kleine aber feine Park bietet Wanderwege über fast 14 km an. Es gibt tolle Pflanzen zu bewundern. Unbedingt Wasser mitbringen , da es sehr heiß werden kann.

There is no entrance for vehicles. The gate is locked.
Went to go fishing but wasn't prepared to carry everything. Website says cars $3.

$3 entry fee/pay on your honor system.
2 trails: 1 is paved/boardwalk to the water. Approx 1.5 miles round trip.
2nd trail is a 7'ish mile loop, but we were unable to complete the loop due to high waters and mud. Some areas we were able to get around it, but finally came to what we considered a dead end with no passible option other than to trek through it. :)
Was able to get approx 3 -4 miles total.
Restroom and picnic table at park entrance.
Big Lagoon State Park is 3 miles down the road. 3-4 miles of hiking on mostly sand trails in that park. Completely different environment. Well worth visiting both parks to experience the difference and can easily do both parks in the same day.
End your day with another 6-7 mile drive to Perdido Key and have dinner/watch the sunset at the "famous" Florabama. We were spending the week in Pensacola Beach and made a day trip (approx 45 min) encompassing both parks and Florabama. Perfect day trip option!
Big Lagoon State Park offers the Junior Ranger program for kids. Be sure to ask about it. Kids complete activities at different state parks to earn badges, pins and patches. Our dog participates and earned his patch and pin this week too! Tarklin Bark does not have a Park Ranger, but if you visit Big Lagoon Park their Ranger has the stamp for the kids Junior Ranger Passport book.
Park is dog friendly.....on leash of course.

A walk in the Bayou and thankful for boardwalks even though it was the dry season. The highlight is seeing the unique plant life in their natural environment.

We love to hike as a family and enjoyed this place so very much. We downloaded the geocache app before heading in and the kids had a blast! Both the 10 year olds and the teenagers! We walked part of the Perdido Loop and ended up at a great little beach- we had it all to ourselves. We watched some flying fish in the bay and the pelicans dive bombing the water to catch fish. We saw a couple of snakes along the path as well! Such a great experience. The trails are well marked and easily traveled and wide. I think we ended up about 2 miles roundtrip, but you can do longer and even shorter if you take the boardwalk to the Tarkiln Bayou Trail. There is an unsupervised park fee that you need to deposit yourself and place a tag in your window, so bring a few dollars.

Very peaceful park. There is a short hike to a boardwalk leading to the bayou, or a longer 7 mile hike along the edge of the bayou. Since I wasn't in proper hiking footwear, we opted for the short boardwalk hike. Unfortunately, we didn't see any wildlife, but it was a nice park nonetheless.

Is there correct address. Echo all other positive sentiments. Make sure you have some dollar bills handy for un supervised park fee. The address on Trip Advisor is for a different state park 6 miles down the road. Enjoy.

We went during Feb, but yes you can take dogs as long as they're on leashes and you clean up after them. ;) We passed by lots of people with dogs.
