If you want a guide who will consistently put you on large numbers of quality snook and redfish, Captain Danny is your man! We just came off the water after two full days of non stop inshore fishing with Danny and I can tell you our shoulders and arms are in pain from so many hookups. He searches hot spots relentlessly and is more demanding than his clients in terms of finding the fish--despite windy conditions and unfavorably high barometric pressure we were able to put over 100 fish in the boat on day one most of which were hard fighting snook and voracious reds. About 15 "gator" trout were in the mix as well. The second day was not quite as good and Danny worked even harder BUT we were able to put over 50 quality fish in the boat-- another excellent day!
This was our third two day trip with Danny and I can safely say he is one of the best guides I have fished with and I have fished from the Rio Negro (Amazon) to Great Bear and Great Slave (Arctic) and most points in between.

Great day on the water with Capt. Danny. We fished inshore out of Pine Island and caught 40 fish consisting of mostly snook and redfish. It was a bit windy with a recent cold front that moved into the area but that did not deter the fish. Capt Danny will put you on the fish ... no excuses.

My sons and I booked a 6 hour charter with Capt. Danny last week. The weather was typical of Florida in August. Lots of rain, and sun followed by high humidity and
temperatures in the mid 90's. Capt. Danny kept his cool and put us on the fish the entire day. We caught enough fish to keep even my sons who both are avid fisherman happy. They both had reds over 30" and numerous others just under. The snook were also active and many good sized fish were caught. I told Capt. Danny we were looking for a fish dinner, so he also stopped on a patch of floating weeds where we caught a nice triple tail dinner. My sons and I fish every chance we get, and have fished with many guides. We can tell you Capt. Danny is a great guide, and lots of fun. He will be my guide whenever I visit Charlotte Harbor.

My brother and I went on a charter with Danny last month. As every fisherman knows, the weather does not always cooperate and that is what we experienced . Even the freshwater fishing was poor. However, I had the time of my life on our inshore charter. As Danny was lamenting the poor conditions my brother and I were both grinning ear to ear. I go high thumbs up on this charter.

Danny Latham is one of the rare "full time" guides in SW Florida. Fishing is his only job - not a 2nd job. He is usually booked months out. Planning ahead to hire him (or just getting lucky due to a cancellation) is why he is always my first call. My son, age 32, and I fished backwater with Danny this week. We quickly limited out red fish and trout. Caught and released monster snook (out of season) the rest of the charter. I have also fished for tarpon with Cap'n Danny in the Spring; he stayed away from the craziness of Boca Grande pass but kept us on the BIG fish. I think he would be good with kids, families just learning and / or the serious anglers choosing either spin cast or fly.
Take sun screen for the charter and buy some ointment for tired muscles at day's end.
I have used several other great full time SW FL guides (Tony Pabon, Chris Law) and others 'not good' ..... but Danny is in a league of his own.

I have been with Capt. Danny Latham three times. I took my 92 year old
Dad and my wife Amy for two different trips and with my good friend Carol on one. To say we had three trips of a lifetime would be short on accolades. Danny is the best and insures you have a great time. We caught a lot of snook, redfish and trout. He took such good care of us and is the best. Danny has a great personality, is very knowledgable of the area and really knows how to catch fish. I look forward to many more fantastic trips.

Just had another outstanding day of fishing with Capt. Danny. We caught keeper and oversized reds, a limit of beautiful big trout, several nice snook and then successfully targeted some flounder for dinner. I've been fishing with Capt. Danny for several years. He's a fabulous fisherman who can catch them all. Best guide on the water.

We went out of Punta Gorda with Capt. Danny and had a wonderful time. He was very knowledgeable of all the fishing spots and how to catch them. He was very patient and was quick to bait our rods and take fish off. We caught redfish, snapper, black drum, trout...he took us for just what we were looking for - lots of variety and in the 5 to 30 pound range. We were very busy catching fish most of the six hour charter. Never a dull moment! By far the best charter I have ever been on. He even cleaned and put our fish on ice for us afterwards.

What a great day of fishing with Captain Danny and my son. My 21 year-old son was visiting for a few days and wanted to have some fun fishing, and I, being new to the area wanted to learn a little about how to fish Charlotte Harbor and Pine Island Sound. Captain Danny was a great pick. He is a second generation fisherman in the local area and knows exactly what he is doing - he knows how to find and catch fish. The boat and fishing gear were all top of the line and in good repair.
What was even better than the fishing was spending the day with Captain Danny. We had a blast with him. He was 100% attentive to our needs and gave good tips and advice. But, unlike some fishing guides, he let us do the fishing. I'm sure he would help if asked, but personally I would rather loose a big fish on my own than watch a guide land it for me.
The bottom line is: if you want a fun day; if you want to catch some fish - any kind of fish; if you want to not be frustrated by breakdowns and faulty gear, then you can't go wrong with Captain Danny.
