We visited on a Sunday,but the shop was closed,but that was not an issue to the owner. She advised us if we got to the shop before a certain time,she would wait for us. She took the time to open the shop,and gave us a brief history on the creation of " sugar Island cupcakes"., she was exceptional!, not to mention the cupcake...she displayed about 15 different flavors. We chose coconut,strawberry shortcake,red velvet,Boston creme chocolate,and carros cake. Did I mention,she blessed us with 2 extra ones to take back home and have coworkers try out. The coconuts cupcakes were DELICIOUS! She definetly has a special touch! You will not regret it! I felt like I was visiting momma'a house with the wonderful smell of baked cookies throughout the shop as soon as you step in. What a doll she is,and her cupcakes add to her uniqueness 👌👋😋🍰

I was lucky enough to contact Sugar Island for a cake to surprise my mom on her 70th birthday. Cindy was kind and patient, as I was calling from Ct., taking the time to discuss every detail of the cake. She takes her artistry seriously, even on a "small" order. Cindy personally delivered her spectacular creation to my mother this morning, making her day! Though it hasn't been eaten, I have no doubt that every morsel will be enjoyed. Thank you Cindy!!!

Love the presentation! We tried the orange - The cake itself was perfection, the icing a little sweet for our tastebuds. Overall, grande! Kudos to you!

They have the best cupcakes!!! The ladies that run and own the shop are fantastic and so hospitable!! Just what you want from a locally owned business....We recommend it to all who love cupcakes.....yummmmmmmie!

If you are in P.G. you should stop in and have a cupcake. My family had 5 different types. We all liked our selection the best. Mine was black and white. Chocolate cake, butter cream frosting and whipped cream filling... YUM!
Others had Carrot cake, red velvet, the chocolate yummy,(chocolate with chocolate and chocolate and razy white with raspberry.
i wish i had one right now!

My wife chose the red velvet, and I chose the Carrot Cake cupcakes. Both fantastic. The cake part of the cupcakes fresh and tasty; the icing wonderful; the filling (yes cupcake filling!) a very welcome surprise. There are a few seats here to sit back and enjoy the sugary goodness. Sugar Island Cupcakes is located in Punta Gorda in the historic district very close to Tamiami Trail (Highway 41). The buidling is a nice spot with a bricked driveway/parking area. Cupcakes are the only thing on the menu and I haven't had better anywhere. Also, take a look at the "About Us" section on the Sugar Island Cupcakes website - quite funny!

we just by chance came across these cupcakes by accident at the Farmers Market in Down Town Punta Gorda - when we arrived at the market there were very few cupcakes left to choose from - a sure sign of their popularity - we got vanilla cupcakes to try - AMAZING - i cannot wait to visit their store and sample all their other flavours!!
