Professional and fun crew. Captain Bob and Tanner took good care of everyone on board. Stopped to tell us bits of regional info as we crossed the bay and kept us entertained along the way hand feeding seagulls and spotting dolphins. Snorkeling time was adequate, but churn left limited visibility. The fort and lighthouse were good photo ops.
As a side note, Betty was very accommodating when we called a week ahead requesting to change our reservation from an afternoon to a morning trip 2 days later.
Definitely a good time!

We selected to take a private 2 hour tour to Shell Key. On the way out and back we ot to see young dolphins learning to hunt with their families. The ride was fun,the shelling was great, and Catain John was well versed in all that happens in the sea and on the beach. Even normally semi-cringy teenagers were smiling, a big win. We will go again next year but do 4 hours.

Had a WONDERFUL time! John was a fantastic captain and we took a private 4 person tour. I had low expectations of the boat because usually in most places, they are run down. With ripped seats etc. This pontoon was BEAUTIFUL, well maintained and very comfortable! I was there with my in laws and their needs are very different than mine and my husband and so John was able to adapt to all our needs. He was very observant and cognizant of our likes and dislikes and would extend some parts of the journey and shorten other parts. I absolutely LOVE dolphins and he really made that aspect of the trip extremely memorable. He was able to find some dolphins and created wake and the 2 followed us and even jumped out of the water a bunch of times! All in all, I was beaming leaving the experience and my in laws who initially did not want to come, had a very memorable and happy experience! Thank you John and Island Boat Adventures!

We had a great time on the Calypso Cat boat with Island Boat Adventures. Our captains John and Tanner were most accommodating. We saw dolphins, snorkeled and went to Egmont Key to view the island. Saw gopher turtles, lighthouse and fort. The beach was beautiful. Definitely would recommend them.

Amazing experience. Whole trip was wonderful. No complaints at all. Both captains did a great job. Saw dolphins, a manatee. And a school of some fish like stingrays. Island was a cool little break you get to walk around and explore a little and swim. Snorkeling was decent for the water.(not the Caribbean folks), but definitely fun. Great trip

Guides were fun, entertaining and knew a lot about the area. We saw dolphins, manatees, tortoises, gulls, cormorants, fish and sea stars. Perfect amount of time at each activity. This was the highlight of our trip to the Tampa area! My teenage kids agreed! Highly recommend!

We did a private half day tour and it was an amazing adventure and SO worth it! Captain John took us to various places that we were interested in seeing and shared so much information about each of them. We went to Egmont Key, Shell Key, snorkeling at the ruins, made an extra beach stop, and had dolphin and shark sightings all while our family of 4 enjoyed having the entire pontoon to ourselves! Captain John also had a fun and beachy playlist going to keep the good vibes flowing! We will definitely do it again when we go back next summer!

Captains Tom and Tanner were outstanding. They were knowledgeable, entertaining, and obviously love what they do. We never felt rushed and thought 4 hours was the perfect length for a tour. We absolutely loved the snorkeling. Many fish and critters were around the ruins. The captains definitely cared that everyone enjoy themselves and went out of their way to find dolphins and manatees for us to see. On the island, we saw Tortoises and were surprised how quickly they can move. We also saw the ruins, learned interesting facts, and picked up some beautiful shells. I would advise to bring bug spray if mosquitoes like you. This was a great trip and ALL of us had a nice time, even the teenagers;) We will definitely take this tour again and can’t recommend it more highly!

The whole experience was amazing! Captain Tom and Captain Tanner were professional, fun and in no hurry. They let us all enjoy every minute of the trip! They found dolphins so we stopped for a while to be in awe of them. Was actually mothers with their babies. They told about the history of the island, along with any other sights. When we stopped for snorkeling, which was the best!! Captain Tom watched us all carefully and Captain Tanner did so as well in the water with us. It was the funnest part of the trip. When we stopped to tour the island or just swim they did not rush, just let us enjoy. My daughter found lots of shells and even a starfish, which was still alive, which was a fun experience for her. Will definitely take this tour again if we come back to St

We booked the day before which actually booked the 2pm boat and they called us the night before and asked us to do the 9am boat but bc they did not have enough people to fill the boat for 2pm. We went last week so I’m not sure if july is a slow season, I think it depends on the time of year you are going to determine if you have to book in advance. I hope this helps

Wondering how the viewing is during snorkeling? Do most patrons typically see a lot of fish / cool sights while snorkeling?
And does the morning trip or afternoon trip seem to be best for that?

When we went the water was very murky with nothing but a fish or two to see at the first stop. Other than that, it was a fun time! We snorkeled at the last stop and found a ton of sand dollars!

I am handicapped and must use a scooter to get around. Cabn SI get on the boat? Couldf I just stay on the boat while the rewwswt of my party checked outhe island, etc

The boat captains are very helpful with and for people. I am sure they would be able to get you aboard and make your trip as memorable as with those that snorkle. On one trip they helped a woman who did not swim in the water etc

We were at Egmont key for over an hour...shelling, exploring, etc. absolutely beautiful. You can see some of the Spanish American war history by walking around. The water was more choppy that day so we headed to another area to snorkel...that is where we were fortunate enough to see the manatees.
