They have a nice disc golf coarse. Be careful with your throws, the discs love to get caught up in the palm tree bark. A couple of water hazards throughout but not to bad.

Stopped at Maximo Park on the way back from Sarasota. It was easy to get to and the park was largely empty at around 3pm on a Tuesday. There are picnic areas, playground, bathrooms, Disc Golf Holes and a small wooden lookout tower. It was fine, but does not look very used aside from the boat ramp area as the grass and brush were overgrown right even after the labor day weekend. There were also a few homeless individuals hanging around which kind of kills the vibe of a nice public park.
We did see a long black snake and a swarm of bees nesting in a log. The bee area was clearly marked with warnings and was taped off.

Played disc golf a few times at this course while on vacation. Skip holes 2 and 7 (or use your old discs/have a spotter) since they are really thick with brush. Really enjoyed the scenery - feels like you are in the jungle. The course is 18 holes, mostly shaded, and takes you around the park. I wouldn't recommend it for beginners since the holes are pretty long and there are a lot of trees and bushes and other opportunities to lose a disc. Make sure to take a picture of the course map to avoid getting lost.
The tide was on the low side when we finished so we went out on the narrow beach and put out feet in the water. Good spot to have a picnic as well. If you have people in the group not interested in disc golf, there is a nice walking path and lots of history to read about. Also a playground for the kids that looked pretty nice. Bring your bug spray...

Maximo Park has something for everyone. There are lots of trails for walking or biking along the water, among the trees, or across bridges. There are picnic areas, boat ramps, a disc golf course, and an observatory tower.

My husband and I came here after driving through downtown St. Pete. The park was a great place to be able to social distance and have a great walk. The paths wind around the park with different views of the water, tree covered areas and even through the disc golf course. The loop was about a mile long. There weren't very many people in the park on a Saturday afternoon - which was great for us.

This is a nice, clean park on the water. Grounds are well maintained and has public boat docs. Great place for a walk or bike ride also

No waves as it is in the bay, but all the amenities and swimming you could want. Picnic tables, frisbee golfing, free parking, free multiple boat landings, rest rooms and very few people most of the time. Plenty of parking.
